Hi Helen,
Just wanted to say Welcome and I look forward to getting to know you. I had lap band surgery on Aug 12th and am feeling pretty good also. I hope you continue to do well.
I try to walk as far as it feels comfortable everyday, doc does not want me doing anything too strenous for another 2 weeks.
Again Welcome!

Helen,
When I started out, I could only do 5 min walking 3 times a day. I gradually added on to that, and now (11 mos later) I do a 40 min walk 4 times a week and 45-60 min aerobics classes 3 times a week.
As for the protein shakes, you have to keep trying different brands until you find one you like or can tolerate. Lots of people find their tastes change after surgery. I like Unjury chicken soup flavor, but I think the unflavored protein powder (which I have tried in pudding, Jello, and oatmeal) is disgusting. I started out using Unjury chocolate and vanilla, with SF syrup (like caramel, chai tea, etc) added. Now I use Muscle Milk cake batter flavor and Whey Gourmet peanut butter chocolate and caramel flavors. I think it's best to buy sample packs/individual serving size packs first before you invest in a big vat of something you may not like. And in the end, I truly believe it's best to get your protein from solid food, which will keep you satisfied longer than liquid food. Just my opinion, though...
