Hi...

I just had surgery a week ago... and I am doing great! I am still on full liquids..so my food is a little boring... and I am still trying to find a protein drink that I can drink day after day.  I have lots of samples... so I have not given up yet.  The ones I was on before surgery are OK... a little gritty... and not too sweet...

So how much walking should I be doing now... I am off pain meds... I can walk half way around my block ( we have an alley... so I through the alley).  I am doing that once a day. I have gone grocery shopping...  and I walk up and down the stairs of my house...  I am I doing enough?

Thanks for all your help!

Helen

Walk when you can.....make sure you drink lots of water.....I would limit the amount of times you go up and down the stairs for the first 3 months.....just like your shoes....not boots that you have to pull on....no pushing, pulling, and tugging, or lifting....

Congrats on your surgery.

The more walking you can do the healthier you will be.  I would let your body dictate how much is enough.  Gradually increase the distance and soon you will be wandering the neighborhood.

I buy whey protein and add it to my blender drinks.  I take 1/2 C yogurt, 1 scoop whey, add soy milk and berries or banana.  Sometimes a touch of cinnamon or vanilla.  You can adjust this to your own taste.     Millie   P.S.  I'm just across the bridge from you in Puyallup.

Welcome Helen, from another Washingtonian!

I was soooooooo tired and weak for quite awhile, I didn't exercise for along time afterwards. I had 5 weeks off and was still pooped. Sounds like you are doing great!
Now I do the treadmill 2x a day...still don't love it but now feel bad if I don't do it. Never thought that would happen.

Welcome Helen. Sounds like you are on track.

I still like an afternoon nap.  Don't feel guilty, you need to rest and heal for a while.
