Need Breakfast Suggestions
Good Evening Ladies & Gents, I'm 2 months out from RNY according to my doctor's regimen I should be getting 60 Gms of protein a day. So far that hasn't been a problem. However I have never been a big on eating breakfast. I work part time as a critical care nurse, doing 12 hour nights. Before I went part time I worked 3 to 4 nights of 12 hour shifts. So my whole system has been messed up for years. Getting breakfast in wasn't a problem when I could have protein shakes. I would just make a shake, making it like a frappacino. But after six weeks my doctor doesn't want you to use the shakes as a source of protein. His thoughts are that we need the dense protein from fish, meat and chicken. Well I did okay at first but now I'm finding that I'm not real fond of eggs esp. scrambled eggs (eggbeaters). I'm trying hard to keep my fat and carb intake to a minimum. Tried oatmeal and than when I tallied up the nutritional content on my daily plate there was alot of carbs. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. At this point in my journey I have no restrictions on what I can eat as long as I tolerate it. Thanks for any input.....Pat
Pat,
Linda posts "what are we eating" every day. Check it out for a variety of suggestions. Those night shifts make meals difficult, but you can figure this out.
Eggs don't appeal to me since WLS either. I usually have the exact same breakfast every day - no fat cottage cheese, sprinkled with Kashi go Lean (for crunch and extra protein) and a small amount of fruit.
Occasionally I will have some tuna with a small piece of fruit. Breakfast doesn't have to be breakfast foods, just concentrate on protein.
Many people make up a meal and add protein powder. I haven't done that for ages.
I hope that will help you.
