What's New Sunday
The girls took away her checkbook because she'd write checks without $$ in the bank. So...she just went to the bank and ordered more! Fortunately Bea knows the manager of the bank and he alerted her that Rose had gotten herself more checks to play with.
My one SIL's DH has a rental property that was left to him by his grandfather. He has a property manager take care of everything and they only charge 10% of the rent. Not bad to no have to worry about that stuff.

Oh Susan,
My sentiments are with you!!!! My sister in law is the same way. So I am with you.
I to dont give into her every whim. She called asking us for 1,000 to pay some bills. I wont give it to her as I surely dont have it. But I know she wont pay bills with it. She buys her friends and probably wants to go somewhere with someone.
She has parkinsons and has memory problems also. She is going to burn down the house with leaving the stove on. It is a gas one.
Anyway Your ml sounds just like my sister in law.
thankg-d she doesnt know how to drive.

Good Sunday Morning Eileen and FRIENDS!
Eileen, I so understand what you are going thru, not with the job aspect because there are always nursing jobs to be had, may not be doing what you want to do, but nurses can usually get a job. The problem there are the physical limitations age and 35+ years of nursing brings with it. the bad backs from lifting patients by yourself, the hours of standing and walking (running) up and down long halls, not to mention the emotional, mental stress associated with life and death.
Not being a Whiz with finances myself, and am upside down in my own home ownership, where by I owe more on the house then it is currently worth makes it hard. Houses are not selling down here either, well the ones that are selling are GREATLY reduced from even their taxed appraisel. I have a friend who is getting a house for under 60K. When have you heard of that happening in the past 20 years? Our first house in 79 cost 30K and that was buying from my parents! My only hope and prayer is that the housing market comes back sometime in the next few years and I will be ready to strike when the striking is good. Yeah, I will be deeper in debt, but hopefully will have upgraded this house enough that it will sell fast at a good price and I may even get a little to put down on a new house.
It seems so many people get their news from the internet now and don't get a newspaper (like me) and that is one area that can be cut many times in a budget, that the publishing business would be down. I have a friend that works for a small newspaper here in NW Ohio and they are talking about reducing his salary. Not good when he doesn't make all that much to begin with!
Well I had to take a break to hang the sheets out, start the towel load, hang up some clothes, do poop patrol and let 2 dogs in and out. adventerous morning already! I may get out and mow the back yard, the front still doesn't need it. I want to work on the bathroom again I think today. Haven't done it for several days now and would like to finish sometime in this lifetime!
Hope you all have a great Sunday. for me, it's back to work Monday after 2 weeks of semi vacation!

Hi Eileen and all,
Getting ready to head to the Ferry to go to Friday Harbor. Will be staying at a B&B which is a working farm. Fresh eggs, veggies, meat etc...
Lavendar farm nearby, but lots of cool weather and rain in the forcast.
Saying Goodbye to son till December, feeling sad...long story...miss him.
Wow! Feeling really low today, off and on everyday for a while...
Hey Karen, might pass you on the freeway!
See ya all later, Prayers going out to all struggling, traveling, working and for all of you sweet people...

Good Morning All,
Read the paper, had my yogurt with blueberries and kashi, and heading out to buy my grandson a birthday gift. My daughter and her family live fairly close but don't see them. My son-in-law is a drug addict. My daughter is
covering for him thus no communication with me. She did
send me an invitation to my grandson's party at chucky cheese today tho. This spring my granddaughter had a birthday and I made plans on visiting them to bring her gift but last minute my daughter cancelled. I went anyway, found their new apartment but not them. I left the gift at their door. She called me 8 min later to thank me for the beautiful dresses, purse etc I bought for her daughter. She must have been nearby waiting for me to leave. It saddens me that I don't have time with my grandchildren but until my daughter wakes up to reality and stops enabling her husband, it don't see it happening.
Anyway, have to buy a gift for my sweet 5yr old grandson. I'll go to chucky cheese at 3, I know my ex and his wife will be there but this is my time to see my grandchildren and I'm going to enjoy that.
Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning and great day everyone, I'm on my second cup of coffee and checking in.
Eileen, my heart goes out to you in your uncertainty. It is good that you are focused on what you can do to alleviate the money concerns. It seems that we get what we focus on but it is very difficult to focus on abundance when we are feeling a lack. My suggestion is to envision plenty of work that you enjoy and the financial freedom that brings. Pay attention to the feelings this brings and stay in this good feeling place as much as possible. Anticipate with calm assurance that the Universe will provide as you continue to investigate your options and reduce your spending. All is well.
My son moved to Missouri a few weeks ago so I am without family in CA now. He used to do occasional yard work for me and the weeds that pass for a lawn here grew calf-high and went to seed. Yesterday I overcame my fear of the gas weedeater, managed to fire the thing up and whacked my yard into submission. A little raking and watering and darned it it doesn't look pretty darn good. I am woman, hear me roar...HOO HAAAA! Today I am inspired to take on some of the other chores that have been piling up.
XOXO, Carmel Valley Linda

Aloha Linda......I enjoyed your post very much. I love it when women tackle something they don't think they can do...and SUCCEED!!
Then when I read "Carmel Valley Linda" I got all misty because I LOVE that area. My brother lives in Cupertino, and has a little "Hobbit House" in Carmel that he lets me use whenever I'm on the mainland...and it is a little piece of heaven to me. After always being warm on Maui, I love to go to the little cottage in the wintertime, build a big fire in the fireplace, curl up with a book and watch Mother Nature do her thing.
Thanks for sharing..........!

Eileen,
Hurting knees, crazy cats, too many bills and worries - you need some big old HUGS!!!!
Our 3 year old Melanie has learned to tell tall tales. She turned to me with 'the look' in those enormoous brown eyes, the devil horns popped up and I knew there was trouble ahead.
She said " Namma, I eat MOTHS and they are yummy!!!" "You do?" I asked.
Yes, and I eat BEES too." Big grin on her face, she was so proud. Her mother won't even let her touch a bug.
She went in to use the potty. Getting to be such a big girl these days and does it on her own. I heard the toilet flush, no water from the sink but splashing.
"Melanie, what are you doing?"
"Washing my hands"
"Where?"
"In the bathroom"
at that point I had to go see what was happening. Lovely sight - she had the handsoap balanced on the toilet seat and was vigoriously washing her hands in the toilet.
Couldn't help myself, I burst into a fit of laughter. Her Mom had a cow when I told her about this. No sense of humor at all. (BTW - Melanie washed real well in the sink with much protest. Common sense overtook my glee)
She is 100% my paybackisa***** granddaughter!!!
