ok- i know that i should KNOW this- i had RNY- (proximal i am pretty sure- don't remember how many cc's...)
when i drink a 26 gr protein shake (mixed only with water so no additional protein source) how many grams of that protein should i be absorbing?????

According to my doctor and dietician, you are getting 26 grams. After about 18-24 months, we no longer have malabsorption. The stomach is not the part that absorbs the nutrients or calories, it is in the intestine and after so long, the intestines no matter how many cc's will adjust and absorb what is put through. So the stomach part is the tool that helps us with portion control and feeling full...the insestines...well, they must have a brain of their own that learns to adapt. This is what I was told.
