Hi all:

My name is claudy and I am new here. I am so glad to find a site for people over fifty. I am way over fifty...try sixty.  I want to know why I need to drink so much water.  I have a real problem remembering to do it.  Does anyone else remember being tired at five weeks out? I go shopping but have to stop after a short while and sit. Did any of you take longer to zap back to yourself strength wise...is it my age?

welcome a-board

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Claudy...Dr. Oz says that you should drink enough water that you can read a newspaper through your urine.......and that is just normal people...not WLS patients who need even more water......Welcome to our site...It is an addictive bunch of friends....Hugs, Marti

Hi Claudy, welcome to OFF. We are a great bunch of people and have a very close relationship with each other. They are always here for me when I need them. Whether is is for questions or times of problems. I consider these folks my family and I chose them, unlike my biological ones. lol

We have a tendancy to dehydrate and so we need the water to stay hydrated. The water also helps to clean out our systems and helps the weight come off easier.

You must remember that you body has been through a big change and it is trying to catch up with itself. I had so much energy when I first got home from the hospital and then a few weeks later I kind of just pooped out. I had expected to have the energy forever. But it does come back again.

You may be sixty but there are a lot of others that are older. We all just blend right in together. That is the wonder of OFF.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Hi Claudy:

Welcome to OFF. It's a great place. Don't worry about being fatigued five weeks out ... your body has gone through a major surgery and it takes time to get back in gear. As for the water, it's important to stay hydrated, it flushes out your body of the toxins left from weight loss ... you can get it from a lot of sources ... water, decaf coffees or teas, but also from fruits and veggies when those are back in your diet.

When you do get your energy back, you'll notice a big power surge ... or at least I did ... at about three or four months out ... boy, I was so revved up and I was still decaffinated then! Man, I almost forgot that I had a bad back and knees! I'd bake and cook in the kitchen for hours (and I'm single, so I'm doing this for myself and freezing! or bringing it to work). Unfortunately ... that, too, ended. Maybe it doesn't happen for others, though. Just me.

claudy its not your age im 67 almost 68 and go all day long every day ...i have 3 acres of gardens and tend them all myself plus take care of 2 great grandbabies 2 days a week.
i dont have much time to myself but i like it like that.
I think you may have answered your own question. about tired and water. I drink about 100oz a day of either straigh****er or crystal light. we dehydrate very very easy and one of the first symptoms of dehydration is tiredness. I am 2 years out and have been going fast and furious since about 2 weeks out of surgery. ...welcome to OFF great board.
