I've been reading all the forums on this site and have made some replies now and then; but I find this group to have a great sense of humor despite the hard lessons of life, and the ability to bounce back.  I  admire you all.

I got my lapband on 7/18. Went in for my first fill yesterday and my port is tilted and the area (not the band or stoma) is still very swollen.  So now I have to wait 2 weeks. I just started to get hungry, so now I have to use discipline to keep the weight I've taken off off.

A little about myself. I'm 55 years old.  I work in an IT dept in medical insurance company.  I was self pay for my lap band as they don't cover biariatric surgery for their employees.  No questions about med insurance, I work with computers   ;-)

I have 1 daughter who passed away 2 1/2 years ago of a brain aneurysm, leaving 2 beautiful grandchildren.  The son and daughter went to her first husband (felon, drug user etc). I fought for custody of the daughter because she isn't related to this man and her father has also passed.  Well, grandparents have no custody rights, and he was given custody.  She is now 13, and lovely young lady, but he is not providing any supervision and he refuses to talk to me.  I see them maybe every 8 weeks or more.  Whenever she can whine enough and he gets tired of it.  The boy is 10 years old and is pure boy.  They are my joy.

I have no significant other in my life but I do have 2 great friends who are my moral support and comic relief.  My mother is elderly and my aunt who was her caregiver passed away exactly 3 weeks after my daughter.  I had to reteach my mom to cook and shop for food.

Well thats enough of that.

Thank you for reading this.

Hello, and welcome to OFF. We are a bunch of souls that just enjoy life and most of all each other. We are here for support and a laugh or two, a tissue to wipe a tear away and a never ending supply of cyber hugs when the need hits you and sometimes when the need hits us. We share each others lives because we feel so close to each other. I think of these folks as my family~and what is so great is they are family that I chose.

Please post often and let us get to know you and you can get to know us too. Please feel free to ask anything and we will work on getting answers to you. There is so much knowledge here I think you can ask just about anything and someone can answer it.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Hi,
I just can't imagine the pain of losing your dear daughter. Thank goodness that you still have some contact with her children. Welcome to our little group.
