Hi - wanting to introduce myself
Hi to all - Thanks Jean M. for pointing me this way!
Where can I start? Why not with who I am? I am the mother to 2 daughters, Amanda, 31, who has just finished school and is an RN. Amanda divorced over 2 years ago but not before having a wonderful son, Steele. Steele is 6 and all boy. I am proud to call him my grandson!
And Lori, 28, who is married and has one beautiful red-headed daughter, Mattie! She is 17 months and such a joy. Lori works part time as a paramedic for our county.
Now - Me: I am 54 years old - have had a weight problem for as long as I can remember. I have worked full time as a paramedic for 21 years and decided this year was my time to retire. So June 1st, I left full time employment. I have been an LPN for 26 years and work part time at a small local ER. I love my jobs, but am glad to do only one now! My daughters fell right into my footsteps when it came to career choices!
I decided that this was the year to take charge of my life and choosing Lapband was part of my decision. I just had surgery Thursday August 14th. I live close to Hickory and decided to go there - so far I am glad I did.
I have loved everyone that I have met on these boards and find great support here and much needed information.
Thanks to all.

Hi Shelia, and welcome to OFF. It is a wonderful place to hang out and there is a group of great brothers and sisters to hang with. They are a caring bunch and will support you in whatever your choices are. We are a family group and that is good. We vent and share, love, laugh and cry together. We love each other unconditionally and that is something that you don't get a lot in this world.
Please feel free to join us and post often so we can get to know you and you can get to know us also.
Welcome to the wonderful world of wls. I know that you will have a great ride just like the rest of us. Sometimes the road may be bumpier than others but we are all on the ride together. We may go in different directions but we all join up here and share and love.

Welcome Sheila to the greatest online support system on Obesity Help!!! You've joined a great bunch of folks here
who will give you answers, support, love, suggestions, and lots of hugs when you need them! Besides all that, we've very good listeners, if you need a shoulder to lean on.
Good luck with your lapband surgery.....
We're here for you 24/7.

Done! Your Ticker:
Welcome, Sheila -- you've come to the right place! You'll find lots of support here, just jump right in with your questions & comments. I know I wouldn't be where I am today if I hadn't had these ladies & gents to help me thru the waiting, wondering and the surgery. And I shudder to think how I can be successful in losing more or even maintaining the progress I've made if I didn't have all these friends for support. Pop in often, I look forward to getting to know you. HUGS
This has been such a warm welcome, thank you so much... I look forward to getting to know each and everyone of you and your families and your journey.
I go for my post-op appt. in the morning and will be able to get my driving privileges back...LOL Then I plan to work 1/2 shift on Friday, all day Saturday and Sunday. I feel great and feel I have the stamina to get back into the swing of things...
Take care and enjoy the rest of the week...
