Happy Hump Day!
Good morning Brenda and all the gang.
Brenda, I'm so very sorry you're being treated this way when it should be such a joyous time for you. My mom was a "step grandma" and it always hurt her. She did everything she could to be in my step brother's children's lives, but their mom made it very clear she wasn't wanted. All those kids ever saw her for were the gifts she would bring at birthdays and holidays. Such a shame. I truly hope you can find some peace with all of this.
I've been MIA and lazy. Still checking in and reading how everyone's days are going, just not having much to say or contribute, so not posting. Work has been so-so this week. Yesterday was a co-worker's birthday, so there was a big pot luck and lots of fun. Such a great group to work with, I love going there everyday.
Well, I did something stupid....no REALLY stupid. I guess I forgot to send in the water bill, and Gary came home last night before me to no water! This company doesn't have any sort of grace period, so I'm diligent about mailing it the day it comes in just so this doesn't happen. So, Gary is at the office now paying the bill and begging to get them to turn it on as soon as possible. Hope I'm able to get a shower before work.
Ok guys, hope you all have a great day. Know I love you all!!!

Good morning dear friends,
I'm saying a prayer for each of you today, whether you need it or not, LOL! I like so many of you have come to depend on the unconditional support this board provides. The bonds we form here are strong, probably because we have all walked in each others shoes.
We are off today for the trip to the VA Rheumatologist. We save $200 every time we fill DH's Enbrel @ the VA. He can pick the meds up closer to home but unfortunately the nearest RA doc the VA has is in Chicago. But on the bright side he only has to go there 2 times a year.
Our Fridge is acting up, scheduled a service call for tomorrow. It is barely keeping things cold, but the freezer part is fine. It's only 3 years old so at least it is still under warranty. I need to go grocery shopping but don't dare buy anything that needs to be refrigerated right now..Which is most of what I am out of. DH checked out everything he could, removed the fur balls underneath and behind (this little chihuahua sure sheds), It seems like we just cleaned under and behind a few weeks ago....hmmm....
Guess that's all from here. Hugs, Paulette

My dad got his hips replaced at the VA in the Chicago area ... unfortunately, then he got colon cancer and didn't live long enough to use them. But he was very pleased with the VA care. He had to force his younger brother (who we all called "Uncle Bum" because he was an alcoholic and a moocher off my grandmother) to use the VA when he got cancer ... grandma wouldn't allow her baby boy to use the VA, although it was good enough for my dad. Uncle Bum didn't work and had no insurance and grandma wanted my dad to pick up the bill ... sorry, but the VA is good enough!

Hi Eileen, DH has gotten very good care at the VA. The docs he has seen have been very thorough. We have a small copay since the disability is not service related but that is ok. The only problem it's still like the military...hurry up and wait!! Although private docs can be the same way LOL! Paulette
Yeah, I know my dad had to wait at the Va in Forest Park (not Park Forest) in the nw suburbs for his hips too and was in a general ward, so was in with a lot of guys; some of his problems were service related because of shrapnel from WWII, though. ... tell me about the hurry and wait ... that's all I do!

Hi Kathi, Today we went to Jesse Brown VA Clinic in Chicago, it's where the Rhuematologist is. Usually we go to Crown Pont, In for normal doc visits.

Good Morning Brenda and all,
Brenda, in my family you would just be called Grandma Brenda, and all the other Grandma's are called Grandma Betty or Grandma whoever. Maybe instead of "step grandma" they would be willing to do that or Nana Brenda or one of those. I have never heard a child say "Hi step grandma" So, just be you and I bet the baby will figure out his/her own special name for you. Be your loving self is all....I don't think you are a person who'll be able to be anything but that! And Bill, hmmmmm, well, I won't say what he should be called...I'm sorry he is not being kind to you...
Annette, glad to see you went through the test with ease.
Kathi, I am so sorry this hasn't been an easier ride for you, your spirit is very inspiring and I just know you'll get where you are going.
Karen, what is up with all this rain?!!!! My vacation starts today and it is pouring! Going to the west side doesn't offer much room for hope for warmer weather.
Come on! First it's 103 now it's barely 60. Lot's of what we have planned is for outside! Well, at least it will be comfortable driving weather Did I say IT IS POURING!!!!
Margo! I have missed you. Glad to see you. Hug Hug.
Connie, thoughts and prayers for you and Nic and family always.
Morning, Pat! Morning, Susan!
Janet, I agree!
I put in 2, 11 hour days this week to get everything ready for while I'm gone. So, didn't post again yesterday as had no time!
We leave tomorrow and hope they will have wireless where we are staying so I can check in with ya all.
Have a great Wed.
Cheryl
