Good morning Cheryl and Friends,

We had the big booming and shaking last night too. A transformer really close to our deck was arching from a lightening strike. After two or three of these I called the power company. We never lost power but I think the neighborhood behind us did. I was afraid it was going to catch on fire.  Lots of rain, wind, thunder and lightening for hours. The good news: it's breezy and so much cooler this morning! Our county fair starts today. I think they were having a demolition derby last night. Wonder if they had to cancel it? Fair weather either tends to be way too hot or windy and nasty. Hope it straightens out and is nice the next 5 days.

My TOPS group usually has the "lost kids booth" at the fair. We had it for 4 years. It was a great fundraiser. . . We weren't invited back this year because one of the women last year made a real nuisance ( spell that ARSE) out of herself by constantly complaining about anything and everything to the office. There are plenty of other groups who want to do that so we lost out. . . . Too bad because everyone who worked got into the fair free that day for working a 4 hour shift plus our group got $700.00.

Cheryl, I wouldn't be able to sleep either. When I'm getting ready to go somewhere I might as well leave in the middle of the night! Don't know your route, but know you're headed west. Have you been over Chinook Pass? I hadn't in years and had forgotten how beautiful it is. Right around the edge of Mt. Rainier with awesome views on a clear day. Have fun wherever you go. I think some of the San Juan Islands are in your plans? Relax, enjoy, you'll be amazed at the things you can do this year compared to last! Relish the freedom of your new, improved body!!

Picked out ceiling fans and a couple of light fixtures yesterday. Also finalized outside paint colors. Shakes will be a sof grey/brown, body will be a creamy beige, trim around windows and eaves will be white.

Need to get a shower and get in gears. Hugs to all. It is so comforting to me to know that you all are always here 24/7!

The legion and Auxiliary has had a booth  for years at the State fair( Iowa) each district has an assigned day to find volunteers. we waited and waited to find out when our day would be. The fair came and went, I talked with the gal who in the past scheduled our district day, she said that headquarters said that volunteers weren't "aggressive " enough at signing up new members so they were going to take care of the booth themselves.Well Fine !! We always loved our fair day. Said gal was at the fair and when she went to the booth there was a vice-officer maning the booth. He was sitting in a chair, hands behind his head, snoring. Look out for all that aggression Iowans!!

I can't believe I finally have some time to post. Yippee. Vacation is past and training week. I am exhausted! I had such a good time in a cabin with my grands. It is a nature area, and I was worried that the kids may be bored with trails and flowers and the such. They had the best time ! So did I. Chuck lives just 5 miles from where we were so we went to his house every day to swim. camp fires and s-mores, collecting wood, and yes trails. The nature center had lots ofstuff for kids to do and a tall tower to climb. Zach who is 6 and obsessed, with guns and war, actually didn't talk about war shooting, killing or tanks all weekend it was amazing!! Now for the heart stopper!!We went on this handicap boardwalk that goes half mile into the woods. like I said it is a boardwalk with a woden fence on both sides all about 6 feet above the floor of the"forest". The next day we were telling a ranger and his wife( who live on site) how much we enjoyed it, and he told us that 2 weeks earlier a man and his wife had been on that trail when a mountain lion had come walking towards them on the trail. The wife about had a coronory, but the husband waved his arms and yelled and the lion ran off, HOLY CRAP!  We had been kind of complaining because we hadn't seen a lot of wild life. After that story I was perfectly happy with the little rabbit  that befriended us. I took scrapbooking supplies and my granddaughter and Iworked on cemetary tour scrapbooks. It was a nice time, too short, only 2 days. Now I am back to work and life. I went with Liz to  her doctors appointment last Thursday, she is doing good and we got to see the baby, via ultra sound .  After this week she wll have the first tri-mester behind her.  Blessings

Hey Carla:
Glad the big hurricane "pooped out" and didn't do too much damage down there.....

Will be thinking of you and the prep for your colonoscopy...
the prep is the absolute worst part, the test itself is
northing!!!

I went to do some shopping this morning, and the CATO store we had was gone......nothing natta there...but an
empty store....darn just when I find a place that I like
their clothes too. I do go to GNC and they talked me into
some super expensive protein powder.....I hate to say it
but it cost $50. for a huge container.....it will have to last me for a very long time. They were into "hard sell" trying to get me to buy this and that......I really don't like that, so
I may never go back there!

It's hot in the house this evening....haven't had the air on at all today and it was comfortable, but now it's really stuffy so I may have to run it for a while to get things cooled down.

Hugs and prayers for all who need them....

Pat R.

Pat, I order my protein powder from Allstarhealth.com.  A 5 lb container about 70 drinks is about $27.00 plus shipping. I always order two at a time as the shipping is the same as for one. I really like Champion Pure Whey products. What kind did you get? Do you like it?

Hi Karen:
It's GNC's brand and it's a brand new product, that's why she was "pushing" it. She said it was excellent for bariatric patients....I just got vanilla flavored and I haven't tried it yet.....think she talked me into it.....I sure wouldn't pay that much usually. I'll check out allstarhealth. That sounds good price wise. I've been using Wal Mart brand.

Thanks
Pat

My guy in Grand Rapids (Warren Nutrition) gives free samples occasionally ... I know you're not up here often, but when you are, you can check him out. Or, if you're into online shopping, I really liked netrition.com; $4.95 shipping for everything, regardless of the weight. They have a good selection of stuff, too, including SF syrups (which is what brought me there). I like Warren Nutrition because I can get my AchievOnes cheaper than anywhere online (don't pay the shipping).
