Colonoscopy!
the colonoscopy is a walk in the park--you go to sleep and wake up and wonder when are they going to start. But you are already done. The day before is the prep. You have to clean everything out so that is the only thing that take time in the bathoom. There are several ways to do it--dpends on your doc. Don't worry about this--my family has a history of colon cancer so I have had 6 or 8 of these procedures. You will be fine.
Mehelga, cute, you are so cute! Thank you for the reply. I'm hoping to be put to sleep. I've heard some people say they were awake and watched the whole thing on a screen. I'm having it done at my doctors office, not the hospital, so I'm thinking I may be awake for the procedure. I guess it's the necessary evils of getting older! I know it saves a lot of lives.
ARe you sure you arent having a sigmoidoscopy. They dont put you to sleep with that one. I am having a Colonoscopy done on Friday. I am going to drink Phosphurs Soda and talke Laxatives. I told them I couldnt possibley drink the other stuff. You have to drink a gallon of it.
Wit h the Phosphurous you only need to take about 6 teaspoons wahsed down with Ginger Ale.
and take the laxatives. I am going to go to sleep for the procedure. I dont want to know what they are doing.

It is a good idea to get a colonoscopy at age 50, or even earlier if there are any symptons. I was in my 40's and just had one bout of rectal bleeding. Thinking it was hemmoroids I almost didn't mention it.
but thank goodness I did. I had a huge pre cancerous polyp. My surgeon told me if I had waited till I was 50 I would have been in real trouble. It was so big they took it out in sections over several months. It was growing flat so they could not remove it all at once. I opted for the colonoscopies to take it out rather then having a major surgery.
Good Luck

Aloha Becky.......Please don't worry yourself over this. I did, and it was a waste of time. I had the kind where you are wide awake and I watched the whole process on a TV screen while the doc explained things to me. It was fascinating!! No pain at all.
The "prep" is a little tedius because you have to spend a lot of time in the bathroom to get squeaky clean. But even that isn't too bad...just take a book with you and get in some reading......ha!
Good luck.....hugs.
