Wii Fit is great!

Although it will be a few weeks before I will be ready to use it after I have my surgery, I am definitely going to get a Wii Fit!  My daughter brought hers to my house today and we have been using it all afternoon.  She is, of course, much better at it than I am.  At 82 pounds and age 30, that is to be expected, I would think!   But this makes exercise actually fun!   And since a lot of my first few months will be in the cold part of the winter, this seems like the exercise answer for me.  I can't picture being much of a master at it right now, but as long as I am moving, that has to be a good thing!  It actually asked me if I had trouble walking outside without falling down!  LOL  That alone tells one how much of an athlete I am!  But with practice and losing weight, I hope to improve.  Have any of you used this great little toy?   I know that they are hard to find, and with Christmas coming, I had better start looking.

My DIL just got one and she told me if you are at all unsteady, it may not be a good idea.....me, I can stumble
on the level floor....LOL. She likes it, but she's an athelete
so it's fun for her......I may try hers and see how I like it.
I actually love the regular Wii that has bowling, tennis,
etc. We had a ball using that!

I use a recumbent bike for indoor exercise.....it doesn't sit high up but is chair level and I really like it. I got mine
second hand for $75. They run around $200 new. It tells you how long you've pedaled, how many calories you've burned and gives you your heart rate.

Good luck .....exercise is really important to making our tool work!

Hi Pat,
I love the WiiFit, and we just got it.

I did use my 4 footed cane for some of the exercises that required to stand on one foot since I have some balance issues also.

Hi HarmonyRose,

That sounds great! I hate to exercise! I really haven't been good at exercising. I'm two years out and really need to start! I'm a preschool teacher so I do stay pretty active, but you know, your body gets use to that sort of thing and you need to do more. Let me know how this works for you. I may like to try too. I hear they are expensive, so I may have to force myself to ride my bike more. Good luck with the exercise plan!

I bought one this week and absolutely LOVE it! You can get  alot of upper body exercise on the regular games as well. The Wii Fit tracks your weight and BMI as well. I feel like this will be a very useful tool for me.

Hi Harmony,

When I got up DH was now where to be found and the car was gone, so I figured he went off somewhere maybe to get the newspaper. Lo and behold a few mins later he came home. He was at Kmart when they opened and bought the WII Fit, so we have been playing/training with it since he got home. We each spent about 45 mins doing the basic exercises.  If was fun. I did well at the Hula Hoop, yoga  and downhill skiing.  It gives you some interesting info on balance and my Wii fit age is 10 years younger than I am..whoo-hoo!  Hope this will help in the weight loss plan.

Hello all,

I am sure this will be a hot item for Christmas gifts this year, so I am going to look for one this week.   My daughter always keeps tracks of what is available and where, so I will leave it up to her.  One thing that surgery won't change for me is the fact that I am totally void of exercise skills.  I can't swim; can't ride a bike, skate, or things like that.   Each time one of my now adult children took off their training wheels and learned to ride a bike, I also took another shot at learning, but it was only a very funny thing to watch.   So I have to find exercise where I can!
