Help put my mind at ease

Good Morning All,  sorry I haven't posted since my initial post last week.  Busy with work and family.  Go figure I only work part time now and I seem to have less time for myself.  But have to admit I enjoy being around the grandkids.  They'll only be toddlers for a short time so I have to get it all in before it's gone.
My reason for needing some reassurance is I am almost 7 weeks post op and seem to be right on track as far as my weight loss is going.  However since Saturday nite/ Sunday morning at work when ever I eat something it feels like the piece is too big and I feel it going all the way to what I think is my pouch.  It feels a little tender for a short time.  Sometimes it even feels like bad gas pain moving.  Than as fast as it came it is gone. This has now been going on every time I eat.  No nausea No vomiting.  After the discomfort subsides I can finish eating my meal.  Is this normal or something I should be concerned about.   Is the numbness of my intestines just returning.  This happens most of the time with solids but on occasion it has happened with crystal light or water.  I'm not one to make a big deal out of anything and I usually just pass off most things but I know that I can't let too much time pass before I become concerned with something after WLS.  Please help put my mind at ease.  Any and all advice will be much appreciated....Thanks OFF gals & guys.....Pat

 *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*  Good Morning  Gahmer,

Your body is still healing and I believe what you are feeling is the tenderness that goes along with the surgery.   I too had to be careful with my food.... be sure to take smaller bites.... chew it to pulp.... and eat slowly.   When I ate fast I felt like the food was backing up.   The first few bites were the crucial ones.  It was like my passage way was adjusting to the bulk of food passing down.  As time goes on your body will adjust.    Glad to hear you are right on track...    Millie

Hi Pat, and first off welcome back. You have been missed. It seems like things are generally going well for you after surgery.

I know when I eat to fast or I don't chew well enough I get a terrible pain in my chest. It feels like what I can only imagine a heart attack would feel like. I also get it when my drinks is to cold. I use to love ice water but now it has to be almost at room temperature. If you asked me if I would like it that way I would have told you never! How things change. Make sure that you are chewing well and take it slow in the eating and also the drinking. Going to fast isn't good either. If it continues I would make sure that you contact the surgeon and see what they say about it.

Continue the great work that you are doing and remember that we are here for you when you need us for anything or to just sit and chat for a bit.

Pat.....I don't know how to help you because I don't know what you are eating. At 7 weeks out I was still on soft foods that required very little chewing.
I agree it could be that you are eating too fast, not chewing enough,
or eating foods that your pouch just isn't ready for yet.
Our pouches are sensative especially until they are healed.
If it persists you should call your surgeon. Better safe then sorry!!

Let us know how you are doing.

Hugs, connie d

My surgeon has had me on Previcid since day one...to help prevent any kind of an ulcer at the pouch... If it continues...give your Doc a call and ask him about it . Good Luck, Marti
