Time for a Martini!
Okay, here I am, 4.5 months out, -70 pounds, 36 to go....I follow the rules, I exercise like a fiend. The "rules" say no alcohol for a year. I am not a frequent drinker - maybe once a week if that and not more than one or two dirty martinis....
I miss being able to have that drink socially - I have told the doc that I have to be drinking by the end of October for my cruise to be able to handle my father's (83 years old) girlfriend (71 years old)....
Has anyone broken this rule early and, if so, what were the consequences?

Of course...I am the bad girl.....I drink wine....and I still lost weight....just figure it into your calories.....and be sure to eat lots of protein with it....Love, Marti
ps Alcohol is a little stronger however....be careful...try it out before you go. xxoo M

Yes...I too drink wine. I never have it in my home. If I go out with friends dancing and partying I will have one glass and then I drink water. I have occationally had two but that is really very seldom. One satisfys me and I don't feel like I am totally not partying. No one gives me a hard time about it. Everyone knows my limit. I didn't start doing that until I was at least 8 months out. I don't do this on a regular basis either. I have alwasys loved water so this works for me!!

In my experience, an occasional glass of red wine (once or twice a month) after six months did not prevent me from reaching goal and maintaining it.
I didn't do hard liquor until one year out when I started having a Lemondrop martini every now and then (again, only once or twice a month).
I'm still pretty careful.

the reason we are told not to drink is that our pouch if you had rny, is healing after surgery
having said that, i had my first drink about 6 months out, a glass of wine. boy oh boy did i feel it quickly.
im sure a social drink wont hurt you overall, but please drink carefully we do tend to feel it so much faster!!!
after one drink i would switch to water or tomato juice, diluted a bit. it isnt worth any problems in the long run
