"mowing" the grass......

I hope the picture will go through for you - of this Army soldier in Iraq with his tiny 'plot' of grass in front of his tent. It's heartwarming! Here is a soldier stationed in Iraq , stationed in a big sand box. He asked his wife to send him dirt ( U.S. soil), fertilizer, and some grass seed so that he can have the sweet aroma, and feel the grass grow beneath his feet When the men of the squadron have a mission that they are going on, they take turns walking through the grass and the Ame rican soil -- to bring them good luck.

If you notice, he is even cutting the grass with a pair of a scissors. Sometimes we are in such a hurry that we don't stop and think about the little things that we take for granted.

Upon receiving this, say a little prayer for our soldiers that give and give (and give up) so unselfishly for us.

I've seen this one before, too.  We sent my son 4 small douglas firs while he was there this time.  He found a great place for them and was nurturing them.  Then they had a sand storm.  His words "I think those trees are halfway to Baghdad, I hope whoever finds them gives them a nice home!"  I wish my arms were long enough to reach out and hug each and every one of those guys/gals over there.

Sorry Marti, no pictures. I have not seen this one but I have to add my couple of cents about the troops. We owe them a lot for the things that they do and for the things that they see. So many of them are just young kids and I pray that they can deal with the things that is going on as they adjust to being home. They will be having a lot of baggage and they need our prayers for now and later.

it's a wonderful picture of a soldier "mowing" a patch ( maybe 2 ft by 4 ft? )of grass with scissors- he has asked for a bag of American soil and some grass seed; plante dit outside his tent and surrounded it with rocks...it is awesome! and the other soldiers love to walk on it becaus eit is American soil!

thanks, marti ,for trying!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.
