What's new, Monday?
so; yesterday, amber and i packed 8 boxes of stuff and treated ourselves by going swimming-it was friggin cold at the quarry but she loved it! i was afraid to put on my suit thinking i had gained more but it still looked pretty good!
it was decided that she is going home tomorrow instead of sunday, tho...she really misses her mom and was afraid that i would be mad at her if she didn't stay two weeks....we had a serious heart to heart about this so we should be fine!i'm a lil worried about how attached she still is to her mom at 11 yrs old but she'll be ok! and i am thinking $$$signs when i think of the drive to take her back but i do it for her for love.....so.....
it's the start of another work week and i must go get gorgeous....tonite i'll hem some (school) pants for amber ...not sure what else we have planned.....

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Hi Margo and everyone:
Well, I'm back! What a nice weekend. Weather was perfect, and the White Sox won while I was there ... but boy, those stairs and the walking I had to do. My right knee is toast! I'm so sore. I was in so much pain last night. Took a vicodin when I got back from the ballgame, iced it, took another before bed, then tried to go to sleep and was in so much pain after a couple of hour of not being able to sleep, I had to get up and take another vicodin. Finally fell asleep sometime after 1, got up about 3 and drifted off again til 6, when I heard my mom get up ... fell back asleep til 7:30 or so.
Had a great time at the game with my friend Phyllis from Florida, although she was so concerned about her family; seems her younger sister is trying to control her parents and causing problems; sister lives at home, is 48 and can't take care of herself well, but is threatening to not take care of her parents because of something Phyllis said, so while we were on the El going to the game, Phyllis was talking to her dad, he was shouting at her telling her what her sister was doing. When Phyllis got home, her parents told her to go home and not ever come back, she wasn't welcome there. Phyllis is worried that her mom won't have the will to live after her cancer surgery because of this. So that was a little disconcerting.
But the ballgame was fun. Our seats were in the upper deck behind home plate on the third base side, but we were in a nest of Red Sox fans; the person sitting next to me happened to have moved to Grand Rapids recently and is going to be a professor at the local university (Grand Valley State). So we chatted on and off about the area; she also has four cats, so we talked kitties too. I told her about my cat sitter friend; she appreciated that one. Oh, and the seats were in row 18, which was about four or five rows from the top ... lots of climbing, so you can imagine why my knee hurt.
Oh, and the White Sox won, 6-5 ... it was exciting because at the end the Red Sox threatened, but the White Sox pitcher got a bases loaded, inning ending double play in the eighth. And then the closer, Bobby Jenks, got the side down in order in the ninth.
It was also good to see my mom; she looks good and I miss seeing her ... we watched the Olympics together for a couple nights (although it's not always her favorite thing ... she endured it and enjoyed some of it).
Today, I had breakfast with Paulette and her hubby Earl ... that was really nice and Earl is a very nice man, even though he's a Cub fan. I really enjoyed our time together before I had to continue my way back home. Got home about 3:30 p.m. and I'm so glad I have the day because I'm so tired ... I didn't sleep well all weekend. I'm so looking forward to sleeping in my own bed again!
Margo, I'm sorry your granddaughter wants to go home early, but at least you had some time together; when my nephew was that age, he enjoyed spending time away from his parents; his mother didn't enjoy it (she was always calling), but Christopher loved being with me in Montana for a summer month.
Well, I'm busy doing laundry, scooping litter boxes ... poor cats have had to go without having boxes scooped for two days ... they greeted and now are ignoring me ... catching up on the mail and the papers etc. Have a good day ...

Margo and I must have been typing at the same time....
I deleted mine so as to avoid a double start to our day!!
Had an absolutely gorgeous day here yesterday....nice temps, a breeze, and sun. It seems more like late September than mid=August.
The family reunion was fun....there were 3 tables full of food, but I was really good. It's always good to meet and greet family members some of whom I hadn't seen for a long, long time.
Not much else going on.....work this morning, and some laundry this afternoon....then going to get my butt outside and try to walk at least a mile....I am within a half lb. of
where I was when I got sick last week, so that's good.
Have a great day all....we're missing a lot of you, let us
hear from you all about your life too.
Pat R.
P.S. I had an e-mail from JillySue last evening....she is doing well - and has a new grand daughter, so she's busy.

Done! Your Ticker:
Pat, I am so glad that I met you this past Saturday. You are such a beautiful person on the inside and the outside. I loved our visit and was sorry that it had to end so soon.
I did tell Floyd that you were here but he had went shopping. He said that he was going to be back in that area in a couple of weeks and maybe you guys could set something up then. I think he is going to pm you but I am not sure. Make sure you check it out. Floyd and Brenda are such wonderful people. I felt an instant brother love with Floyd. He would make a great brother. Always wanted one but never got it so now I have some and that is as Martha Steward would say, a good thing. lol
I am sending you love and big hugs and lots of prayers too!

Good Morning, Margo, and Everyone,
I've been so busy watching the Olympics there has hardly been time for anything else. I ran to the market yesterday morning and have never gotten through there so quickly. LOL My son came and picked up the extra chair sitting in the middle of my livingroom so that meant I got out the vacuum and started cleaning. Well, one thing led to another and I cleaned much more than I had planned.
Getting ready to leave for work today. That will put a crimp in my hours of Olympic coverage but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!
Shopped on Saturday for new bras. The new size was certainly a shocker. I had been waiting to replace bras for far too long. Then I found two stretchy (the clue here is stretch!) tops in size X-Large and darned if they don't fit! I was very excited and, of course, they were coming home with me. Then..... drumroll please.... I found a blouse in size 18 and it fit too! Who would have thought that losing only 30 pounds would result in dropping three sizes??
Anyway, more information than anyone needs to know but a personal best for me. Have a great Monday everyone!
Hugs,
Kathi
