What's New Sunday????
It's so nice to see you tonight! It's still pretty early here in CA but I'll put my two cents in now. I love to sleep in on weekends and by the time I check your blog tomorrow it will be too late to post. I don't have too much going on. I am starting back "officially" to work on Monday. The hardest part of that is getting into my school building by 8:00 AM every day. I have to drive about a half an hour in traffic and park by 8:00. It's hard to do after a summer of sleeping late EVERY DAY! I'm a night owl and my sleep patterns always change during the summer. In a couple of weeks I should be used to the early rising again.
Our contractor is supposed to be here to measure for the new flooring tomorrow. That means I have to make my final decision on the wood. I thought I had, but the floor we chose at a flooring liquidator place has a brand name that I can't even find on the internet. I want to see if it's a good floor. So I'm hesitating.... It is pretty and it has a 30 year warranty but I can't even find the company that would guarantee the floor. Hmmmm....Listen to your instincts Julia.....
Candy, I'll be meeting up with Debi R. at the Sacto OH conference in two weeks. Wish you and Janet were closer. We'll toast to you both with water..... If I have clam chowder I'll remember our lunch on Fisherman's Wharf.
Julia
You're looking good, girl! Where does the summer go?
Our schools don't start here until after Labor Day, so we still have about three weeks left of our summer off.
I'm with you on the floor brand.....it's a little scarey that you can't bring up the mfg. on the internet.

Waaah!!!! I wanna come to be with Julia and Debi and Janet. I've been good, worked overtime, and I think I should be able to use that money to fly out to see you guys.
Ain't gonna happen, though. That money is already earmarked for new floors (what a coincidence!), and I'll never be able to get the time off work. The way our staffing is going, I'll be lucky to get Christmas off, and I have lots of seniority.
I've been doing the floor thing, too. I pulled up the carpet in the family room because it smelled like kitty pee due to behavior or a UTI or something. Once they peed on it, it was all over. And over, and over, and over. I finally just yanked the thing up. I'm living with an OLD (40 years???) linoleum, and have been looking for a new inlaid that I can keep bare or partially cover with nice area rugs. The really good vinyl is expensive, but my biggest problem is finding a pattern that I like. Because of course, I not only want to replace the family room, but also the foyer and the kitchen floors that abut it. They're both peel and stick tile, which has little "stick" left in it's repertoire. The cats have had a field day with it. I keep tripping over loose edges. I decided against laminate becuse I'm worried that if the girls wet, it'll seep through the seams and I'll have the same problem. A one-piece will solve that, and if I can find a pattern I like, it'll avoid the problem. I can always pull up an area rug and have it cleaned. Anyhow, that's where the extra $$ will be going, if I can find something I like. No luck so far.
Today will be a lazy day. I'm up, but still tired. Perhaps when I get the second cuppa coffee running through my veins, I'll have more energy.
Probably not. Think I'll go read the paper and watch some Olympics.
Good idea!!!

Hi Candy and the rest of the gang!
Here I am..back from Quebec. What started out as a three day weekend stretched into a whole week there. The B&B where I had booked was SUPERB! Mother fell as soon as we got there but she was not hurt...just shaken up...so glad that she didnt break anything being almost 89 ! I got her to bed and she recovered well. The family party was the next day and that's when she finally saw my adopted sister after over 3 years.
I learned alot from my cousins...it seems that my sister may actually be a cousin of mine (she was adopted from this area) and it seems that she is still using people...big time! But I cant say a word to mother because she will tell my sister who will hurt my cousins big time...she has a foul temper. So I had to sit and bite my tongue while mother praised my sister and her nasty boyfriend all the way home.
Anyways, my sister may have stopped using drugs but she is still using people and cheating them out of ALOT of money. All I could do was tell them to stop giving her money and to tell her to stop hanging out at their homes and eating and drinking them out of house and home like she does. I think she is going to find it harder to use people anymore darned soon.
One of my cousins, Bobby, and his wife, insisted on taking Mother for four days because their house is all one level and she happily stayed with them, though I still had to pay the B&B for mother's room since Id booked it and the host had turned down other bookings because of us. They were thrilled to have her there too.
After the first party, other relatives came to Bobby's house the next day with fiddles and guitars and they played music and sang all night long...Mother had such fun there! she said it was like old times at home. A good Irish party! And cousin Mike interviewed Mother for hours on tape all about her childhood memories. He is really into family history.
JB and I had three days off to tour the Ottawa Valley where I was born and all the small villages that I remembered. Our B&B host was a wonderful chef and our breakfasts were so good and yet still very healthy and WLS friendly (okay, I DID take a few nibbles at the french toast stuffed w/ cream cheese and almond slices and covered with real maple syrup). But the scrambled eggs with grated parm cheese and chives were SO good and the homemade pork sausage was so lean even tho I could only eat one half of a slice (I slipped it over to JB who happily took care of it for me).
The B&B was right on the Ottawa River across from Calumet Island where the old family homestead is ..my cousin Walter is the fifth generation to live in the old house..until Saturday..it burned down several hours before the party started!!! The birthday presents and all the party luau props were burnt too but my cousin Judith saved the cake!!
Thank goodness that everyone got out! and cousin Peter immediately wrote a song about the fire and how Judith managed to rescue the birthday cake...lol.
So the party was moved across the road to another cousin's house..it was HIS birthday.... and the party went on anyways. It was a blast! I was able to eat barbequed chicken and a wee bit of pork loin, salad too ..even ate from the fruit boquets..so pretty..fruits carved and on skewers like flowers....and I left all the goodies alone easily.
I actually did alot of walking that week touring and lost 4 pounds. yayy! We went to Fort Culounge and saw the "chutes" (white water rapids flowing into the Ottawa River) where the loggers used to throw the freshly-cut timber so it went downriver to the sawmills. My Great Uncles Willie and Louie were timbermen in those days when Mother was a child so I grew up hearing all those old stories. The stairs to view the chutes were extremely high and even able-bodied people were huffing and puffing but I forced myself to take it slow and managed to get there...half-dead..but I got there.
We got home last night..I am more emotionally exhausted then physically..today I slept in ...a full fourteen hours solid sleep! We wont be taking Mother away anymore..she fusses so much about what MIGHT happen and, in doing do, ruins the present moment...she gets herself so upset and simply cannot manage the terrain anymore. Then she cries and refuses to do anything. So I can't put her thru that anymore.
Anyways, she came home with wonderful memories and she is happy. And it's not my fault that my sister is the way she is and now it's up to my cousins to stop allowing her to play them too like she does to Mother.
And so another saga of my life moves on. Im starting a new series of illustrations for the next set of children's scripts for professionals...this set for AD and ADHD kids..next is for Eating Disorders...thats MY idea *s*
Derek, the mechanical engineer, continues to be a BOUNCER at night and work on his business during the day. Danny, the electronics engineer, has created an electronic device for airplanes for his company, Insight Avionics, there are ten in existence and he built all of them...they are now being featured at a big trade show in Wisconsin. JB continues to enjoy his retirement...the house now has a new roof, new siding upstairs, a new verandah and now he is putting a metal roof on the big barn.
I have used my client's SUBLIMINAL CDs to curb my head hunger and that makes it so much easier for me. Ive taken up crocheting and that seems to help soothe me when I get upset..I just sit and mindlessly crochet instead of eating. Too bad I didnt discover this 50 years ago!
Well, Derek should be home soon from the club so Im off to bed..the storm is over...again.
I get to sleep in Sunday morning then it's back to the rat race!
Nancy B
Had a wonderful time visiting with Brenda R. yesterday at the KOA campground in Middlebury, Ind. We never did find Floyd....he may have been out touring the country with some relatives who had come down from Michigan.
Brenda is a wonderful person and we really enjoyed each other's company...met her hubby Bill too, tho' I'm sure he was bored with all our sistah talk!
It's nice and cool this morning after the good rainstorm we had last evening....
Are any of you folks watching the Olympics? I did get to
see Michael Phelps win his first gold of this olympics...it made me nervous to watch but he put on speed at the end and set another new record.
Going to early church and then off to a family reunion today.
Nancy B.: your trip sounded wonderful.....hoping my bro.
and I can find some nice B&B's when we go out east in
Sept.

Hey everyone,
I have been reading like a crazy woman. Sometimes, I just get tired of reading from my list of books needed to write my dissertation, so a few days ago, I bought three Octavia Butler books and five King books and I've been reading nonstop since. It is so fun to read for fun. LOL But, I still find myself doing analysis on fun books.
It has been raining cats and dogs and storming. I was happy to see that my "neighbors" had built a sturdy nest and that the huge leaves of the catobe tree covered them so that they survived the storm. She is such a clever bird.
Today, I'm going to clearn my freezer and my refrigerator and get ready for filling them for winter. We have a friend who has raised us a calf and it has not been given any chemicals other than those antibiotics and such required by law nor has it been fed food that is not organically grown. In fact, these animals are so well treated, they all have names and I've visited them and petted them. They have a huge field of clover, yes clover and on and on. So, we are going to have the killer man pick it up and very humanely kill him and butcher him for us and we need muchos room for the wonderful meat that he is providing. This is the first time that I have ever done this, you know, known my meat source. Oh her name is Blue Daisy.
good morning! we had storms last nite and some rain! whooo hooo...i'm sure it won't mean alot to the crops tho--the air was absolutely gorgeous yesterday! i would love that year round!!!
i actually packed a box yesterday! and i think i'll get a few done today.....have no clue where to PUT them when they are packed!!!!
amber wants to go swimming and i convinced her that the water was going to be too chilly yesterday- it's a quarry where we go...but i think today we will have to at least venture out!
yesterday i had a real bummer-went to the plasma place- first my bp was low so i was going to have to wait 10 mins- then they found that my protein number (needs to be 6.0 or above ) was only 5.8 so i couldn't donate-major bummer cuz it was to be $50.00!!! and then add the gas on top of that - 76 miles round trip for nothing! and at 630 in the morning! arrrgggghhhhhh....--friday nite i should have had that last protein shake before bed but chose not to....oh-and i had put weight back on--geeeez----this may factor in to how many more times i make that drive!it made me feel very useless to my family's economy that early in the morning!!!!! i continue to contend that it is making me conscious of my health tho since i can't get my labs done! and the money was sure nice! in august they are paying more too!dang it!!!
we discussed the bushes in front of our house- the ones that were cut down a few summers ago--we think that maybe we should pull them out to help sell....- and so now i have to figure out how cuz they have bigggg roots!!! michael had tied them up to look ok but two don't look well and it would be stupid to have only two of the four! and then there is explaining to do! so if we pull them we can level the beds- it would be a cleaner look....there are three gorgeous hostas in there and that will be ok- they look good!
michael had another bad nite friday nite which i didn't know about- he actually came out and rolled around the floor a bit - jarred his "problem" (possible obstruction?) loose...and then last nite he slept on the couch--he goes to bed with me but gets up when he thinks he is disturbing me...
well- coffee is ready....
hugs and prayers......
I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Margo,
Honey, this selling your plasma is dangerous for us gals who have absorption issues. Why not have a garage sell? My daughter and I had one and we made 500 bucks. Of course, without my husband's consent, I sold his compressor. LOL he never uses it anyways and we got 200 bucks for it. Look around, I bet your hubby has some tools he isn't using. Not thatone. LOL
