After I finished showing homes this morning, I stopeed to get a gift certificate for a client and decided I was really hungry...it was 12:30 and not breakfast...so I stopped at a fast food place and got some cvhicken tenders...ate two and WOW...they did not go down well...I gagged myself...in the car...and did nothing but foamies.....but  wow was it exhausting...had to come home and go to bed......slept finally for two hours and now I am better but EXHAUSTED.....I tried to eat some ice cream.....one bite ....no luck.....so I am just drinking liquids....they really hit me this time.

I hope I feel better soon as we are supposed to  go to a cook out tonight at my cleaning lady's home....her daughter and son-in-law are home from Afganistan [her] and Iraq [him]
and the party is for them...they are headed back tomorrow....this horrible war is so personal when people you love are there, isn't it. She has been my cleaning lady for almost 25 years so these children are very special to me.

It is wonderful that they are home together...they had not seen each other since last Oct. They make so many persoanl sacrafices for us. He is a medic on his 5th tour of Iraq. She was in Iraq , now in Afganistan...It is so sweet, they met up in Kuwait and he had all these appointments for her...hairdresser, nail  tech for nails and pedicure and dinner reservations for her birthday....and then they flew to Atlanta...went to Florida and took a short cruise and then flew to Chicago and drove to Madison. They are staying at a Marriott here so they have privacy. They are trying to cram so much in such a short leave...God Bless them...as it is back to the "Front" tomorrow.

Remember all our service people in your prayers each day.
Love, Marti

I agree Connie....we did go and I was so happy to see all of their children. His Mother was also there from Chicago and she is amazing also...71 years old and still working as a nurse, tall and slim and vivacious and so proud of her sweet son. We were treated as honored guests and Sandy snuggled up to me lots of the evening and talked about her job in Afganistan where she walks guard duty of the perimeter at night. She  has had two years of college and is being encouraged to apply for ROTC by a superior officer. He will be finished in December in Iraq and is applying to be sent to Afganistan to be near her.

It is no wonder I just want this War to be over. ..and our troops brought home. They are never allowed of course to say anything about the President as the Supreme Commanding officer. I do know they feel the support of their loved ones and the American people....and they wouldn't mind at all to be brought home out of Harm's way....to continue with their lives, like maybe have a baby someday. She also confided in me that her husband has had to kill 3 people.....and while he accepts it as a kill or be killed situation....and he is a brave soldier...it still bothers him to take a life.

Her Mama put on quite a spread for them...spareribs falling off the bone, pulled pork sandwiches, corn on the cob, homemade German potato salad, and his favorite.. her homemade cole slaw...and delicious apple cake from apples on their own property, they live in a rural area on 5 acres of land. It was a lovely evening sitting around outside and it was cool enough here in Wisconsin that we needed jackets. They are used to 130 degrees heat right now.

As I sit here and watch the Olympics....I think they have the right idea.....competition, national pride..but respect for the winners.
Hugs, Marti

Morning darlin....After reading BOTH of your posts, I feel sad about what this damn war has done to the good young people of our country. I hope so sincerely that this lovely couple makes it through in one piece and come back together to live a long and happy life together.

Thank you for sharing an "up close and personal moment" with our valiant peace keepers. So glad your foamies didn't keep you from going.....I know you added so much to the festivities.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Marti, so sorry you had a case of the foamies.  At almost four years post-op I still get them occasionally.  I agree, they are the pits and leave me sleepy and exhausted too, but a 15 - 20 minute rest is all it takes to feel better.

Your house keeper's daughter and SIL will be in my prayers as they dedicate their young lives for our freedom and safety.
