Looking for a new comfort zone

Good Morning All,  I've been outside looking in for several weeks.  Thought it was about time for me to become an active participant.  My story is not much different than anyone else's.  Food has been my friend thru good times,bad times and anything in between.  My name is Pat,  but since my first grandson renamed me "Gahmer" last year when he was 2 1/2 it has stuck with me in the family.  Thought about WLS on & off for a few years. Got real serious this past April/May.  Moved to GA from South Florida 3years ago and was putting weight on ever since.  I am a nurse and was aware that I was adding comobidities with every pound.  So I started my new losing weight life 6/26/08.  Don't regret it at all.  Have gained so much more than I'm losing so far but I'm sure that will even out eventually. So I've been pushing myself to get my hiney up and trying new things.  After reading this forum for a couple of weeks,  it sounded like I might just fit in and as I loose I'll be making more room on the bench for new comers.  Thanks in advance hope to be talking again soon.r  Gahmer (Pat)

Hey One and All,  thanks for the warm welcome.  One of my goals is to try new things.  After lurking for I got the feeling of genuine concern from one to the other.  The emotional support you all offer one another screams out.  I'll be going to my first support group next Wed. evening.  Looking forward to that also.  I am truly amazed at the renewed stamina I've gained since the surgery.  
         Since moving to GA it seems like the only contact I have is with my kids and their families.  I grew up in Fort Lauderdale, FL.  Spent 47 years there it was certainly time for a change.  No regrets about leaving Florida, thoroughly enjoy the foothills of North Georgia.  Continue to do Critical Care Nursing but do miss the group of nurses I worked with.  We worked together and raised our families together for almost 20 years.
           As you can see I can become winded at times.  Even using my fingers instead of my tongue.  I will be updating my profile but it won't be for a couple of days.  I'll be doing a couple of 12 hours shifts at night at the hospital.  I will check back for a quick hello and see what's up.  Take Care Hope Everyone has a Fabulous Weekend,  Enjoy..............Pat
