Any vanilla protein powder recommendations?

I'm almost out of vanilla protein powder and even though I rarely do shakes any more, I like to have it on hand to make protein-rich SF caramel iced coffee, SF chai tea latte, and some of eggface's protein ice cream recipes.  I've used Unjury since my band surgery because that's what my nutritionist recommended, but I have to admit that I can't take it straight or even mixed with fruit.

I've heard a lot of people rave about Muscle Milk, but hesitate to try it because it's 150 calories for 35 grams versus 130 cal for Unjury (a whole 25 calorie difference - big deal, huh?).

Does anybody have a recommendation for a good-tasting vanilla protein powder?

Thanks,
Jean

I like Champion products. I refuse to use Unjury products.

Jean I'm a "chocolate" gal, but I like CHampion Pure Whey Vanilla Ice Cream I believe it's called.

I like Designer Whey Vanilla (or strawberry), and Bariatric Advantage vanilla meal in a bottle (or something like that).  But I like mine warm.

I get Body Fortress Whey Protein from Wal Mart. It's 110 calories and 26 gm. of protein per scoop. It's available in both vanilla and chocolate. It's $13 + for a really big container.

I don't use it much for drinks, cause my doc doesn't like us to use them, however, I do add a scoop to s/f puddings
to up the protein content.

I second the Designer Whey.  I get it either from Walmart or GNC.  I add a scoop of either the vanilla or the chocolate to iced coffee and make my own latte.  I actually LIKE it that way!  It's good just as a shake, too.

Thanks Jean, I finally found this forum. I use the Walmart Brand, and I like it. I have only used it for my smoothies. I use frozen mango, yogurt (if I have it on hand, otherwise 1% milk) about 3-4 different SF syrups. I would love to have the recipe for your iced coffee with the protein powder in it. Also, how do you make the "Eggface ice cream". Thanks. McKenna

I'm a coffee freak, but can't tolerate the caffeine after a certain time of the day, or I don't sleep.  So, I make a big pot of decaf, let it cool, and put it in the fridge.  Then, when I want COFFEE!!!!!!,  I pour about 12-16 oz in a glass, add a couple packets of Splenda (cause I still have that sweet tooth...), some half and half or milk, and a scoop of protein powder.  I've used vanilla or chocolate, usually Designer Whey, but most anything will do, as the coffee seems to get rid of the "whey" taste that I dislike so much.  It stirs in well with a spoon, no need to make a blender dirty.  I add a few ice cubes after I mix in the protein.  If I want to take it to work, I just throw everything but the protein powder in a bottle, and add the protein and shake the whole mess just before I drink it.

I've never been a fan of protein powder, but I decided to try this to use up the many lbs of it that I've bought and never liked.  It's working, and I've increased my liquids, and my protein, and it's helping me to maintain the weight loss.

And it's COFFEE!!!!!!  Love that coffee!!!!

Welcome to the OFF forum.

Thanks Cany, I wrote the recipe down, so I think I will try it after I get off of here. I have some left over coffee from this morning. I mostly have a shake/smoothie in the morning, but this morning I was hankering for some eggs with butter scrambled in - well wouldn't you know, it started to feel like I was going to have a stuck episode. I heard that eggs and chicken can get you "stuck". I have had a couple of bad experiences with the chicken, but not beef or pork. Congratulations on your wonderful weight loss, and thank you for welcoming me. I know I will love this forum. McKenna
