I have been sooo busy here at work but Iwant to check in because I am off the rest of the week, Taking the grandkids to a cabin, I can't wait!! Chuck and I bought a pool this weekend, 18 footer. He is having so much fun in it. I don't think the pump is working right and I will have to learn the chemicle part of it. not much in the directions and he won't do it for sure. I told him HE had to get the pump part figured out.Next week is our yearly In-Service week at work. Meetings and trainings all week so I may not be around much. Please don't forget me. Good old federal programs, we have to have the same trainings every year. Can you say BORING. Today I take the car for an oil change then I wil go up to Chucks and swim and whatever. I can't wait for him to go off to a conference the end of the month soI can relax and be at peace. He is like a blasted 13 year old boy in the water.. splash splash splash, drag me around on the float. Grrrrrrr I think I should have been a lesbian, I really haven't ever met a man I want to spend to much time with. Now that should open up a can of worms.. gotta run loads of work to do before I leave today..Blessings

Aloha Evelyn and OFF sisters/brothers!

Nice to see you beginning the thread, Evelyn. You and I are so similar in our surgery dates, and losses. I've found maintenance is tricky......and I no longer eat anything like I did when trying to lose. Now I've become a snacker, which I know we are told is the doom of WLS....and the result will be gaining everything back. But, for me, it seems like if I don't snac****ep losing. My tool is working very well, thank you very much....and I'm so thankful to have it. How are you doing with maintenance, Evelyn?

Yesterday I ended up working a nine hour day because our receptionist called in sick. Today may turn out to be the same...I hope not. Working a long day like that and thinking about all the up/down/running back and forth, etc. etc. I have to be reminded that two years ago (at 319 lbs) there is no way in hell I could have done any type of work without collapse! Stairs now are just stairs.....not a dreaded challenge. Chairs are to sit in, not to guage as to whether my big buh-tocks will fit, or I will break them. Pushing baby cribs down long halls for five hours is NOT a marathon event any longer...it is easy and normal. Geez...I think I just described some WOW moments!! You KNOW how I love those......and I think it's time I posted a WOW MOMENTS JUNKIE NEEDS A FIX.....soon, very soon!

I worry about those of you in hurricane's path. Those things scare the you know what out of me. We, here in Hawaii, are so vulnerable to such a storm, and I hope that I never meet one in person.

Time to get ready for work. Thanks to all of you for always being here when I log on in the morning.....usually already over 20 posts!! It's a lovely way to start my day. Happy Tuesday everyone!

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Hi Karen!  I am working on learning maintenance as well.  When I don't snack a bit, I tend to keep losing, and for the first time in my life I don't WANT to lose any more weight.  Someone told me today that I "eat all the time."  I remember saying that to thin  people before my WLS.  They ate frequently, but not large amounts.  Maybe we are just becoming "normal?"

Hi Evelyn and everyone:

Interesting night last night ...busy at work, usual pages but big business pages (two full pages, no ads, not many local stories, which is unusual, but then it's summer and everyone's on vacation but me!). Then I had to finish up the College Guide, plus we forgot to put in a local story, so I had to rip up one page and put that in (not that hard, just one story). When I got home, there was a caller ID number from my old newspaper in Montana, the Anaconda Leader. It was from their sports writer ... so this morning I called back, he wasn't there but I talked to Debbie, who was their ad rep (we worked together back then). We had a good chat; seems the sports writer wants to use one of my old articles. We rehashed old times, caught her up on what I was doing; one of the guys I worked with had died ... now that makes two (because Wally, my editor, also died three years ago). Told her about my weight loss ... she said the sports writer googled me and found me because of my WLS.  Debbie's just a few years younger than me and one of her kids is already married! Wow!

This morning I had to get up early for my bone scan, part I. I have to go back this afternoon for the second half. Slept OK last night but not long enough. I'm really tired and fighting a headache and don't think I'll get much of a nap this afternoon before I have to go back downtown. And then it's off to work after the bone scan because it's just down the street.

Well, I should go get some lunch ... maybe I can close my eyes for a few minutes after that. I'll reply to some of you later when I get to work. Sorry all of you are going through some stressful situations ... boy, do I understand that! between the pain and finances and other things, I've been through it! Put your feet up and try to relax! (I'd have a beer, but I have to work!)
