I hope our new neighborhood is friendly. Here in the apartment it seems people just come and go. There are no  yards so unless you bump into someone on the stairs you don't see anyone. I miss that. A nice summer evening, chatting with friends sounds lovely.

Good morning everybody!
It is going to be hot here in Topeka also.  Should be 100 or above.   I don't like such hot weather, but when you are in an office freezing, it is nice to go outside and warm up a bit.  It sure doesn't take long.
We were out shopping yesterday.  It was warm but you would cool off going into the stores.  When we go somewhere to eat I always take my jacket to put on. I must look weird but I get cold real easy.  It has nothing to do with the weight loss, I have been that way all my life.  But being smaller probably makes it a little worse.
Today around 5 PM they are opening our new bridge, one of the major streets here in Topeka. It goes over the KS river.  They knocked the old one down two years ago and have been working on it the last two years.  It was kind of an inconvenience for some but there were other routes. After the collapse of the bridge in Minneapolis, I think everyone was thankful we were getting a new bridge.
Not much else going on with me.
Need to get going and get ready for church.  We are having our monthly fellowship dinner today.
Take care,
Mickey

Mickey, I'm so happy to see you posting again. I don't get here as often as I used to either, but it's always good to see those who were here when I started too.

Thanks Karen.
I was thinking we along with maybe a few others are the only ones from 2 to 3 years ago.  I always wonder what happened to everybody.  I miss seeing them and/or hearing from them.
Take care,
Mickey

Good Morning all,

Today we will be taking it easy, it is supposed to be very hot &  humid. Probably stay inside all day. DH is already feeling the humidity, we had opened the windows last night because it felt cool, but by morning yikes the air is dripping, so closed up and put the a/c on.
Yesteday we did alot at our daughters. I finished the new living room drapes for her, just have to shorten one sheer for a smaller window. They all turned out nice. I think DH made too many trips up and down the ladder as he is limping today, but could be a combination of that and the humidity.

Hope everyone has a great day! Paulette

Hi there Karen, hi all,

Well, I am starting this off with a rant. NEIGHBORS! This time the ones accross the street in front. For the second time in 4 days they have had a huge drunken party, college kids, and we have been woken out of our precious sleep around 12:30am till 3am, with loud yelling, music etc.  They party with their front door open and you would not believe the noise! They play music and all sing along at the top of their lungs. So last night we called the police who said they could indeed hear the noise themselves over the phone...no one came, 1 hour later the party continued on and so I called the police again, no one came, then I called the Gonzaga Campus Security and was told since they are not on campus there was nothing they could do. So after witnessing one urinating off the front porch, and having had enough, my sweet husband gets his clothes on...I follow in my bathrobe cuz I know husband is really pissed...and he goes over and yells at them to turn off the music..I am glad I was there, Tom lets the anger build and then he blows, he slammed their door shut, and was yelling trying to get their attention over the noise and music, so then they start yelling...I told them we would be calling the landlord today, and that we had called the police...well, they all went home, driving very very nice SUVs and other fancy cars, (Gonzaga is a very expensive private college)Yelling obcenities at us all the way down the street the whole time. So... I am worried about what happens next time, I'm not around and husband loses it. He is normally a gentle easy going giant, but laying there for 2 hours trying to sleep listening to these spoiled jerks was the limit for him....
I love this old house and the beautiful yard he has created, but this neighborhood is just gotten to be awful....
Ok, I'm done. We will figure out who the landlord is and also report to out local neighborhood COP SHOP. Now, I worry about vandalism...

So, glad to hear your new house is coming along Karen, and Kathi happy you are seeing results and the nut gave you a thumbs up on what you are eating. Judy, what a jerk! I'd stay away also!
Laureen, have a great weekend...
Everyone else too!

Those old homes have so much character. Maybe others will realize and buy out the "kids" house and make it a home like yours. That's the problem so often with the lovely old neighborhoods. People moved to the "burbs" but it sounds like many are moving back. Hang in there.  Let's see what can we do to be really annoying to them.  Church hymns from your house very early on Sunday morning. Perhaps piped into their windows where they are trying to sleep? They're probably sleeping the sleep of the dea like I did as a college student. NOTHING will probably disturb them. I'll keep thinking. . . . Bedbugs, tackweeds on their front walk? A couple of top cats fighting under their windows?

Hi Karen,

Yep, we have put a lot of care into this house and our yard is a very peaceful place (usually!) I took some measures yesterday ( i will post on todays What's New). The kid's house is a rental and lots of these old homes are being purchased to rent to the college kids. Some of the landlords are even building these butt ugly apts butted right up to the backs of these old Victorians in their backyards. Ugly and sad.
