Good morning Karen & OFF Family,

This is a hit and run, as I just wanted to say hi to you all, been another busy summer weekend and I'm up, off to the gym, then on my way to New York to an 80th surprise party for a family member, I will be staying over a cousin's as it's too much of a hassle to go up and get home only to have to get up at 4:30 a.m. tomorrow for work, so I'm taking the train as though I'm going to work, taking the subway to my cousin', going to make the ride to Long Island where the party is with her and her husband. . .  anyway, I'm off and will catch up with all your goings on tomorrow at work. . .

Hope your day is a blessed one and if you're going through difficulties, my prayers and thoughts will be for you today!

Hugs, Laureen

I just caught a $294.00 round trip fare from Pasco (the little airport town across the river) to JFK! Sure wish I wasn't so "committed" to real life stuff right now and I'd book a flight and come see you and the Big Apple. I've never been. I've been to 39 states but most of the east coast is still on my "Bucket List."  Perhaps in a couple of years! Hope you have a fun weekend.

Hi Karen,

Certainly hope you will come sometime in the not too distant future. . .  always willing to point a vistor in the right direction and you've got a place to stay anytime, it's closer to Phila then NYC, but a mere bus ride from the big City, so you can do a twofer one deal.  Another thing is, I am still planning on trying to put one of those get together weekends for 2009, but I'm trying to figure out the logistics and so on, as hotels in NYC are very expensive, so I'm looking towards the outter boroughs, possibly even just across the hudson on the NJ side, summer has been busy, so I'll be looking in earnest come the Fall and then see who will be interested in coming.

Phily and PA are way up there on my list too. My mom's family roots are PA Quaker in PA and Delaware. Some of the meeting houses still stand. Sitting in one of those where my early ancestors once sat would be a wonderful feeling. I love walking through old cemeteries also.

Hi Karen,
I can't sleep either...........had surgery on the 30th..........actually slept most of the night,..............in my bed................
decided it was time to try and get some liquids in.  I need to keep sipping, sipping,sipping..............hard for me to drink just plain water.
        Feeling better everyday............
I see we have the same surgeon.

Linda, I worship the ground Dr. Lauter walks on! Tell him hello from me when you go in next time.  It's a new and wonderful journey that you are embarking on. I wish you the best. My life is so much better than it was going on 4 years ago.  Any limitations that I have in my life have nothing to do with my severe morbid obesity. I still have fears, anxiety, and financial limits on my goings and doings but those can be dealt with! Other than that I am a free woman who can enjoy life fully. I wish for you the same. We'll have to meet up one of these days. With grandbabies in Chehalis and family in Seattle I'm over that way often EXCEPT in the winter! Hugs.

Linda, Dr. Lauter's group had a support meeting when I was there for a 3 yr checkup in March or April. Wish I was over there where I could go all the time. Have you been? Wondered if perhaps you were at the meeting I went to.  My son's girlfriend is a 2nd grade teacher in Kirkland. I taught for 17 years mostly middle school before giving it up. I was having sever anxiety issues feeling like I was going into combat each day. Decided it was time to leave the classroom. For a couple of years I tutored special ed students who for various reasons couldn't be in the regular classroom student, including an Aspberger's student who I became quite close to. Tho I no longer tutor him we stay in touch.

I sucked on ice chips just about constantly for weeks after surgery. It seemed to soothe my need to chew and it gave me much needed fluid. I kept an insulated cup with me most of the time even at night.

Linda,

Congrats on your joining the Loser's Bench!  Try adding a little flavor to your water, as in the crystal light or another brand of sugar free flavor packet, I can only get down so much plain water myself, even this far out and it's hard to drink anything that is too cold too. . .  anyway, good luck on your journey to healthy living!

Hugs, Laureen
