delays mean more delays

Hi,

Well today I finally got a callback @ 4pm from the HMO office at my clinic, they faxed the referral for my sleep study to the hospital, so I call the hospital and of course there was no one there, so I left a message.  Well, the hopsital just called to schedule my sleep study.....Sept 29th is the first available appt.  So now Monday I can try to schedule the follow up appt with the pulmonologist who is supposed to be backed up till November, maybe they'll squeeze me in since they canceled me 2 times. Now instead of submitting my paperwork to the surgeon to submit to my ins co in Sept. looks like it'll be nov-dec before everything is done, no idea when I'll have wls...is there still hope for this year  before Christmas???? .  Also having problems between my clinic and my insurance finding out where I can go for my psych eval. Have to deal with that next week, as the ins co is mailing me a 4 page list of providers but they can;t tell me which one does eval for wls!!??!! The clinic really doesn't care who I go to as long as the administer a ??? minion??? test???? and fax the results to them.  what the heck is a minion test?? Oh well.. I always said I needed more patience but this is not how I wanted to learn it.

Yeah, doctors and insurance companies, ain't they something? They want you to live on their time. Be patient, but not too patient. Keep buggin' them so you don't fall between the cracks. Don't know how things work with your surgeon, so I can't comment on scheduling. You never know if someone cancels, you might still get in this year.

Can't tell you anything about the minion test, all I had to do was see the behaviorist at my center, I cried for an hour, he passed me, then several months later after they lost my insurance card and slowed my acceptance, they wanted me to see him again. Well, I told you the whole story.

Thanks Eileen,   I'm waiting for the "list" of apprved metal health providers in the mail, so I can start calling to find out which ones do the eval for wls and the test??  I asked them to fax the list, it came through just as lines, so I asked them to email it to me and they can't. I thought that was crazy. But  what's a girl to do?

today I have to stop caffeine so if I get a call to go in for the sleep study because they've had a cancellation I am ready. I needed to switch to decaf anyway, just have been putting it off. I told Earl I am getting a list together of things I want..Keurig coffee maker for me to make 1 cup decaf at a time,  small digital point & shoot camera (for frankenmuth) , gps (just because)...LOL, he says he never knows what I want, I told him they can all be "early christmas gifts"

 *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*  Paulette,  Just think of all the weight you are losing jumping through all those hoops.  Hee Hee     This must be very frustrating for you.  It was 5 months from the time I met the surgeon until I had surgery.  It seemed like forever but once all the tests were in my wait went quickly.   Patience is a virtue...  and virtues are something we develop.   Too bad it isn't a gift and from a wealthy relative.  soon,  very soon you will be on the losers bench with the rest of us.  Millie

Hang in there Paulette, it will happen when the "time" is right and I firmly believe that. Look at Kathikins, she waited nearly a year before she finally got her surgery....so there is hope for you. Please don't get discouraged. We're all here for you with tons of support.

Hi Paulette. I just wanted to let you know that I took a test too. I am not sure if it is called a minion test or what. It was a test phamplet that had a gazillion questions on it. It shows a lot of things I guess. The doctor who gave me mine told me in the beginning that I as going to get a mark that looked like what he drew on the paper. In the end it showed just like he said. He told me that showed there was a bit of depression. He told me that was to be expected with not only the health problems but also the weight problem. It was time consuming but not a bad test. That was pretty much all he did and then told me that he wished me luck and if I needed him to call. BTW after I got the test done he ran it through a machine and got the results right then and there. Hope this helps but I am not sure if it is the same thing or not.

Hi Brenda, thanks for telling me about your experience with the psych visit.  I'm thinking maybe they'll think I'm nutso and not approve me for surgery. My emotions have been all over the place this week.....  But when you have to eat a elephant you have to do it one bite at a time...so I have to remember that, and each journey begins with one of many steps.

paulette...welcome to the world of jumping through the hoops....when i first started out i was all they way through the hoops and was having the consult with the dr...it was then he told me NO i couldn't have this WLS!!!!!!! why??? because i had a previous hernia surgery and there was scare tissue and HE didn't want to deal with it!!!!!! it was theni went to MMPC in grand rapids and met with dr foote!!!! THANK GOD FOR DR FOOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he said there is NO problem with my having WLS!!!! sooooooooo i had to jump through their hoops and then i could have surgery....so see all good things come to those that wait!!!!!!! hang in there sweetie your time will come soon i am sure....
