I HAVE SOME NEWS...

ok got the mail today...i have a letter from the rental truck company...they are willing to give me $200.00 for the damages to my couch, love seat, lazyboy and dolls. BIG DEAL!!!!!!!! all of these pieces of furniture might have been 10 years old BUT they were like new...the dolls i can't replace at all because my aunt made them for me and she has passed away....soooo do i get intouch with the truck company or what??? i do not think $200.00 is fair at all to replace my furniture!!!!!!!! what would you do if you were me??

i also called my lawyer and she said they will be having another conference meeting about the settlement so i do not have to go back to michigan at this time...yippeeeee hopefully her telling his lawyer that we will ask for alimony and lawyer fees makes him change his mind about me paying half his credit card!!! so thats one thing that i am happy about right now...but the rental truck company...GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Sorry about the trucking company ... they should give you more than that, you'd think. Don't know if it would be worth getting a lawyer or not.

As for the other matter, at least you don't have to go back. If your lawyer asks for a lot, maybe they'll back down.

Yeah, it hasn't been a bang-up week for either of us, but at least now you have a job, so that's a start, huh?

Did a moving company move you or did you move yourself with a rental  truck? big difference....If you moved yourself I don't see how the rental company could be responsible for damages....but, what do I know?

hi darlene...i rented the truck myself and we moved all my things...this truck we rented leaked really bad in that huge storm we went through....they told me they had insurance for accidents like this so its strange that they can offer me so little money to replace the things i lost...i didn't ask for them to replace the stuff THEY told me that they would....sooooo who knows

After 18 years and MANY moves done by movers contracted with the military -they don't care if the stuff is irreplacable.  They care about how old it is.  When we moved we made sure they marked down every blemish on every piece.  On most damaged pieces, in the end, it came down to giving us the value of a 5 year old item vs. repairing or replacing.  It's just like car ins.  If the car is worth $1000, but repairs will cost $2000, you'll get $1000 (even if you still owe $1500).  You could always take it to Judge Judy!

just doesn't seem right at all...if you pay the BIG bucks to rent the truck you would expect it to be leak proof wouldn't you??? then to top it off they charged me extra because we went a few miles over the limit for the rental!!!! did they give us place close to where we were living to return this truck?? nope had to travel another 30 miles and we got lost!!! not our fault because we even called for the directions to get to the drop off point...its just not right to me at all....LOL @ judge judy...LOL like she would let me talk...LOL

I did not know you had decided on divorce, I hope you will be happy, what ever that is.
