Welcome to OFF, Vera!

You're gonna enjoy it here.  Everyone is so nice and friendly and very helpful!  I spent exactly one year to the day here before my surgery.  I learned so much.....  Just follow the guidelines given by your doctor and I'm sure you'll do great!

Congratulations on the weightloss so far!

Thanks Kathi, I am on less that 60 grams of carbs for the next two weeks and liquid only on the 11th.  Can't wait to be on the other side!

Welcome Vera,
Before you go to the hospital ... take before pictures. You might not like them now but they will be good to have in future months.
Take your measurements too. There will be times that the scale slows down and the tape measure will show your progress better.

I have been thinking about the pictures and will get to them soon!! LOL  I know I don't dread taking them as much as seeing them!!!  I will also get DH to take my measurements for me and get it all documented.  Gonna get a journal to document!   Thanks for  the welcome.

Vera,
I was sooo completely camera shy before WLS. Now I am sooo happy to have those OLD pictures to compare. They also help give me a reality check of how far I have come, otherwise, I haven't a clue.

Every month on my surgiversary date, hubby and I would get out the tape measure and document the inches lost. Comparing my size 21 months ago until now is still a WOW moment.

I just pray that I am up to this trip.  You know how it is just before surgery, all the doubts and second guessing!!  I have been thinking this thing through for 3 years and I know in my heart it is the right thing for me, but my head is playing games with me a little bit.

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for the welcome.

Welcome, Vera, and I know that you love OFF as much as we do. Please make sure you post often so we can get to know each other. Feel free to ask any questions that you have since we have been there with the same questions ourselves.

I think the most important thing to take is the chapstick. I like the medicated ones since they seem to help me better. Just my own thought. I took things to read and never really read them and so I don't think I would bother with that stuff. It is just more to take home. lol Make sure you have things in the house for when you come home. I made sure I went shopping a couple of days before my surgery. That way too I knew that Bill wasn't going to starve to death while I was gone too. lol Trust me he could live off the fat of the land for months!!! I would make sure that you take comfortable clothing too. I would keep it lose if I was you.

It isn't going to be long and your life is going to changing. There is so much to do and enjoy. Things that I only dreamed of having come true. It is a wonderful road trip and one that I wouldn't change for anything. I will be keeping you in my prayers for a safe surgery and a pain free and fast recovery. I am keeping the medical staff in prayers too for knowledge and compassion.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.
