Hi everyone,

I have just found you all!  I have been looking around the boards for a couple of months, but did not know there was a place where I might fit in!  I am a 57 yr old who is scheduled for Lap Band on August 12th.  Excited, nervous all at the same time.  Any advise for the hospital?  Anything I should do before I go to be ready when I get home?

Connie Thanks for the welcome.  I must say I hope I look half as great as you do when I get to goal!!  At 314 and 5'1" (my highest weight/down to 302 now) I feel like a blob!  I will be thrilled to reach 150 or so.  Just want to feel better and enjoy Walt Disney World with the grandkids. 

My wake up call came when I went to Disney with them and they went and got a wheel chair and surprised me with it the second day because "You can not  keep up with us and we only have 11 days to see everything!"  Boy was that a bad feeling!  Only good thing is we got head of the line priviliges and they kept us all together!

I am sure everyone has a story or two to tell so I'll hush up now! LOL

Hi Vera!

Welcome to our little corner of the world!  It 's a great place here, full of love and encouragement. Grab a cup in the morning and join us as we find out the news of each other's day.

The two things I took to the hospital that I couldn't have done without were chapstick and my own pillow. Life is much better when your head is on your very own. Make sure to put a brightly colored pillowcase on it so everyone will know which one is yours.

i know what you mean about being excited and nervous all at the same time...but if you did your homework you will be fine!!!

as for the hospital i took alot and never used it...lol i did use my chap stick tho and i thank whoever told me to bring it!!! those dry lips are murder wneh you can't have any water!!! make sure you bring loose comfy clothes for the trip home...wishing you the best of luck and hope to see you posting here so we can all get to know each other!!

Vera, Welcome to my favortie spot on Obesity help! I know you're going to love it here. I spent over a year here before I had surgery. So much support, friendship, and just all over really nice people. I am thankful daily for the friendships that finding this group have brought. Excited, nervous? You have every right to be both!
