As everyone else said, we are here for you as you seek out your "doctor prince" and there have been many of us who hung out while undergoing research, prior to surgery, so jump on and in no time you will feel as though you've always been a part of this place, oh and as for long-winded, I for one, can be, it's sort of like having a person-to-person chat. . .

Just chiming in my welcome, and wishing you the very best success in finding what you need.. the right surgery and the right doctor-prince.
I have friends who live in East TX, and I know how the small town life there can be sooo judgemental...it's nice to be in a place that just accepts you, like the Over Fifty Forum.

Welcome! You are not a failure! Get that thought out of your head. You just need another type of tool to help you with your battle. Surgery has changed quite a bit since the 80's and hopefully you'll find the right type to suit you! I don't know any doctors that do revision - I'm from Canada and not familiar with different surgeons in the states.
All I can recommend is that you take the time to research the type of procedure you'd like to have done and then talk to a surgeon. You'll do fine! Nice to have you on this board.
