Monday What's New?

Good Morning, my fantastic OFF Family,

Thought I'd take a quick minute to say Hello.  I know I've been absent for so long that you probably don't remember me (like that will ever happen),

Friday was my bosses last day in the office, as he is packing up this week and then transfers to Columbus, Ohio.  He tried his best to persuade me to transfer with him.  It was a great compliment that he thinks that highly of me, but  I'm happy in Indiana, so I'll just wait to see who my next boss is first.  I may be bossless for awhile because they haven't even identified his replacement yet.  Will give me a chance to catch up on some of this work.

Saturday was our quarterly Clothing Exchange and it was one of our better ones.  Tons of clothes, lots of new people, and great food to share.  I don't go for the clothes, but for the fellowship.  Our good friends from southern Indiana came and then spent the weekend with us.  It was so much fun.  Their 7 year old daughter is so much fun.  We went to the zoo yesterday and it was a blast.

Bingo was especially fun Friday night.  The progressive jackpot for $500 was up to 58 numbers.  On the 58th number, I was able to yell "Bingo" at last and now we have our upcoming vacation paid for.  We're taking a week at the end of August to go to Cedar Point in Ohio (last time we were there was before we got married - 33 years ago), then to Shipshewana for some shopping, and a trip to  Michigan to see Brenda's parents.  It should be lots of fun.  Maybe I'll get to see some OFF friends along the way.  Will have to see once we finalize our travel plans.

Well, I better get back to work.  Hope everyone has a great day.

Brotherly hugs to everyone,

Floyd

Hey good to see you post, Floyd.

I found out from Brenda in Portage that the IN board is having a weekend thingy in Middlebury on Aug. 9th. Do you think it would be ok if I come down and meet some of you folks???? It's only about 20 miles from Sturgis.

Let me know, okay!

Pat,

August 8th and 9th is the 2nd Annual OH Campout and you are very welcome to join us.  Last year we had 3 couples camping, but another couple came over for the Saturday evening pitch in and we had a great time.  The owner of the campground had WLS and that's why we have it in Middlebury.  We're expecting 20-30 this year if I count right.  Some are only coming over Saturday for the get together.  My mother-in-law and cousin are coming down from Michigan to join us for part of the weekend too.

We're hoping to get up there early on Friday, because I hope to run the 1 mile race again this year.  I won first place in my age group last year.  Middlebury has their festival that weekend.  I'm not sure what time we're planning the pitch in for Saturday, but will let you know.  Look forward to meeting you.

Hi Margo and everyone:

It was sunny to start the day but it's clouding up now and looks like rain. I can tell that because my knee is really hurting me. I wish I would get some relief. The only thing that helps is vicodin. Can't take that and work or drive, though.

I made a pot of coffee and as I was emptying the dishwasher, I checked to see if it was flowing right, and it wasn't, so I fixed the filter. Then I turned around again, and there was coffee coming down on the counter ... what a mess! And the last of my Casi Cielo, too. Hot coffee and grounds everywhere. So I cleaned that up and made a new pot ... part Casi Cielo and part of something I'm not sure of that was left in the fridge. It's good but I don't know what it is.

Our Starbucks that just opened in Grandville is closing sometime this year ... it just opened last year! Well, there's so many of them close together I shouldn't be surprised. But this was the only free-standing one. There are still all the ones in the stores ... also, the one in the mall is closing too, but there is still one in the Barnes & Nobles in the mall. Too many close together I think is the problem with Starbucks. I liked the freestanding one because I could get coffee on the way to the highway without going into the grocery store. Plus it was a nice place to hang out. They're also closing the one near my mom's that they just opened. Weird, huh? They build these places and then close them.

I have an appointment with my psychologist this afternoon at 1:30 p.m.; since it's in the afternoon, I'm staying in Grand Rapids and meeting my friend Mary Kay for a late lunch/early dinner (linner? lupper?) I haven't seen her for awhile anyway. Then I'll go to work from there. It'll be a long day ... my coworker at night is on vacation so I'm by myself. Plus I have to wait for late briefs for the briefs package I edit. So no getting out early. I'll have a few reviews this week, too, so it appears I'll be busy all week.

Well, I think I'll try to get some exercise in. It hurt Saturday to cycle but I'll try anyway. Need to get back in the habit. Have a good day.

Hi Margo and my OFF Family!

I feel so out of the loop, not having been on the computer since last Thr. . .

It was a nice weekend spent with my sister from another mother, Jeanne.  It has been a while since we spent a weekend together, she met me at work on Thr and we headed home, on the way, we went to Starbucks to meet up with my friend Owen, before heading to an AA meeting, then home to settle in.

Friday we got up and headed to my newest sister from another mother, Diane's house, where we hung out at the pool and just kind of lazed the day away, eventually going home, showering and going to an AA meeting.

Saturday, we did a little bit of shopping at Kohl's, as I was looking for a strapless bra so that I could wear a halter top that Diane brought me for Christmas, telling me that I'd be able to wear it by summer.  She bought be two of 'em and I wore them both this weekend, a first for me, as I've never worn a halter top that I can remember in my adult life.  Anyway, we then went and hung out with Diane and several other friends of ours at Diane's pool, where I seem to have gotten the job of being the madame of the grill; I prepared a nice meal of steaks, marinated chicken breasts and pork medalions, salad and corn on the cob, followed by watermelon and peaches.   After dinner we all headed to our women's AA meeting and when that was over, home to bed. . .

Sunday I was up too early, thanks to my roommate's boyfriend and I was like a grumpy bear in the morning, lazed around watching HGTV with Jeanne until about noon, at which time we got ready to attend a pool party, given by a gentleman and his wife that I know from AA, he and his wife host this party every year and it is the first time I was going, as I am a relative newcomer to the area and last time I felt too awkward to accept the invite, so I stopped at Diane's as we were all going to be going together and was surprised with a beautiful orchard, card and a pair of earings that she made for me, in honor of my 21st sober anniversary, it was abo****ely wonderful day from that point on, as I realized how lucky I am to have the people who are in my life today and to be free to enjoy living the dream that I am slowly realizing through my sobreity, as well as WLS.  We all had a great time at Rich and Tina's house and ended the day at an AA meeting.

So here I am, Monday morning, at work, recounting the weekend events to share with all of you.  I hope to catch up on the rest of your lives now that I'm done posting here. . .

Hugs, prayers and positive thoughts, Laureen
