Good Morning Debbie and Friends,

Returned home yesterday afternoon following 3 blissful days in the mountains by Cooper Lake. Absolutely beautiful weather, sunny and warm in the day, cool in the evenings. We had campfires morning and night, met lots of nice people and animals, saw a beautiful buck wander through the campground at 6am. (I knew there was a reason that I wake up early!).  Lots and lots of doing absolutely nothing, hiking, reading, cooking over a campfire. Yes, hot dogs and s'mores (just a bite!). Maggie loved having open range after being confined in the apartment.

Today and tomorrow are catchup and laundry days. Tuesday we head to Montana until Saturday. A friend's daughter's wedding, visiting Mike's brother and family in Philipsburg, MT.

Returning home Saturday, repacking and heading to Hannah and Clara's on Sunday to help out while their Daddy has his football team at camp and their Momma has to work. On Wednesday Mike and I will be "Twin Team" while Erin goes to Seattle at 5am and returns about 7pm (if we're lucky!) I am confident that we can handle it. Hope the girls cooperate and take nice naps so Mimi and Papa can catch their breath!

Need to get my britches on and head out the door for my walk before it gets too hot. All y'all have a great day. Hugs,

Karen C

Say hi to Anaconda for me while you're out there ... or stop in at the Philipsburg paper and say hi to Dean and Trilby (my former publisher at Anaconda was Dean Neitz, he also owns the P-burg paper).

Loved Anaconda, wonderful country ... go up to Skalkaho falls ...wonderful drive up in the mountains, kinda scary alongside on the way back but beautiful.

Eileen, We love the Skalkaho Pass also. Mike's aunt lives in Darby and we plan to visit her. We're on a short time frame. Otherwise I would love to go that way instead of through Spokane. We'll be in P-burg Tuesday and Wednesday. I'll try to stop by the "Mail" and say hi to the Neitz' for you. There are wonderful places to explore all over Granite County. Mike's dad used to read meters at summer homes. We'd go along and get to see all kinds of wonderful cabins tucked away in the wilderness. Many of them would not be used for years at a time. Such a shame. Did you ever make it to Granite (ghost town) or Echo Lake up around Georgetown Lake? Mike's dad was a wonderful guide as he grew up there.

I think I was in Granite ... spent a lot of time at Georgetown Lake because it was one of our coverage areas. Take along a photo of me to show the Neitzes ... they won't recognize me! I was over 300 pounds when I was there. Man, I loved that area ... it's gorgeous. When I die, I want my ashes scattered up in those mountains.

Good Morning Debbie and all,  I survived!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My sister in law left this morning. We actually had a nice time with her. She insisted on washing all the dishes after each meal while she was here and I let her.  She commented on how nice I am looking and how proud I should be of losing weight.  She ate the food I prepared and seemed to enjoy it.  She took us out to brunch yesterday which was nice. The visit with Earl's mom went well too, although when we left, Julia had a real hard time, which is expected since she only comes in once a year. Mom actually was having a good day, she knew who everyone was. The nursing home had an ice cream social on Friday and ice cream is one of my mother in law's favorite things so we all went to that. All in all I managed my food well had only 1 glass of wine on thrsday night and still managed to lose 1 pound since Friday, I'm looking forward to a less stressful week and then next weekend Carla will be here and we'll be going on road trip number ONE!!!.  yipee!  JHope you all have a great day, Hugs, Paulette

Hi Deb and everyone:

It's kinda overcast today in West Michigan but it's cooled off ... but it's humid too. I opened up the windows and the cats are enjoying sitting by the sliding door listening to the birds and watching the bugs. Such nature watchers!

I had to work last night ... what a pain that was! It would have been fine ... I was busy, so that was good, it kept me occupied. I was doing the region (local) section and had a lot of pages to fill but a lot of small holes, but the cover. The metro editor and I talked about the stories to start, so I started working on the section, and then she told me we had a couple of other stories ... OK, I ripped up my cover that was finished to anticipate the other story and got some extra space for the jump and other picture. So I get finished with that, and print out my pages and then Ruth (the editor) tells me we don't have this story (which was a reaction to a tuition hike at the local university). So I spent the next hour redoing my pages back to the original plan. Aaaarrrrgh!

Later, I expressed my disgust to the night editor, who said what they should have done was get their reactions on Friday night rather than try to do on Saturday  ... exactly! Like how are you going to get people on a Saturday during the summer? People are out having fun ... not sitting around the phone!

When I got home, all the baseball games were over, so I watched the last two episodes of "John Adams" ... very good, if you have had a chance to watch it. I really enjoyed it. Tried to go to sleep at 2 a.m., but my knee was bothering me, so I wound up getting up to take a vicodin and read for a while.

No big plans for today; talked with my mother, my friend Mary Kay and now my brother Gary. Doing laundry, dishes and I might bake some blueberry-pineapple bread, because I bought all these blueberries.

Annette, I understand how you feel about the comments.  I see overweight people and want to shout to them about the wonders of WLS; I tell everyone my story and show them my before picture. I did that on the cruise in April while we were picking out T-shirts in the gift shop ... my brother shook his head and I said, "I like to encourage people." Maybe someone will take a hint and look into it and get some help too.

That's all for me. Have a good day!

Hi All,
I loved the John Adams series too, Eileen. It was well done and I so enjoy history when it isn't dry and boring.
I went to a dinner gathering with CA OH members yesterday. It was a nice group. Today I am going to a wedding. It is small- maybe 50-75 people, but it will be so nice. It is the marriage of one of my speech therapist cronies- she is almost 40 and thought she would never find "love"... her fiance is a doll... I'm very happy for them both. They are getting married in our college chapel- it is gorgeous- stained glass and ivy (my husband and I were married there 25 years ago this October).
I got back from Yosemite yesterday... it was a fun trip. I live in a good place for fun trips- an hour from SF or Sacramento, 2 hours from Yosemite. The drive is curvy once you start up the mountains. My TOPS friend and I had lots of fun. She is still heavy and couldn't hike like I could, but she waited patiently in the car as I hiked up to vista points to see the waterfalls. What a difference seven months can make! I'm in a stall right now but I am 105 pounds thinner than I was 7 months ago.
That's it for today...
Julia
