I had to do a year's worth of that stuff. Weekly weigh ins...I hated it. For some of us...diets really DON'T work....which is why we are MO.  It is so hard...but just hang in there. The idea is to have a very healthy surgery.

With the DS: there is no stoma, so no stoma strictures; there are no limitations (other than volume) against drinking before, during or after meals; 80% of ingested fat is malabsorbed; 98.9% of type II diabetics are CURED of this devastating disease, with data showing stable cure over 10 years out; there is the best average weight loss and most durable (average 76% excess weight loss going out 10 years) of all of the bariatric surgeries.  That's why I had a DS!

I dont want to scare you but you may want to contact your insurance company and make sure that weigh****chers is acceptable.  Many insurance companies want that supervised diet with a physician -- not your surgeon or a certified nutritionist.  I had to do mine twice because my doctor did not religiously record ALL the information in my chart each month.  If you dont meet their exact requirements, the insurance company will jump on that and use it as a reason for denial.  Good luck and ((((((hugs))))))

Char, Did you clear the Weigh****chers thing with your insurance co? Or is your PCP in charge of it.  I could attend Weigh****chers but it had to be under an md's supervision.  I was just curious, didn't want you to get half way through this thing and your insurance company won't accept it.  I also attended the LEARN Program through our local hospital, it was 3 months long and then I found out their requirements changed to 6 months and I did WW's.  Good Luck.
