Any Suggestions?

Thanks for that tip, Jean!

It's one I hadn't heard before or even thought about.  At this stage I'm game for anything that will work.

Paulette,

I think hugs and good wishes are great help!  Thank you so much.  I've already incorporated some of the many help tips I've gotten just by asking.  This is the best place for support and sharing.

Hugs,

Kathi

Hi Kathi,

I don't have much new to add. All the suggestions are good. I just wanted to tell you that for me it was very hard for a LONG time. I was sooooo confused and worried how I couldn't feel if I was full, or sometimes I could barely fit anything in and I could really feel it!

I still, at almost 9 months out can not eat salmon or chicken that is too dry or especially eggs, I have to get rid of these things, usually,if I eat them as they just sit and hurt so much...no matter how much I chew or go slow.

I still have a protein shake every morning and eat about 2 small meals and 4 even smaller ones. The protein shakes are some off of the internet that my surgeon recommends as he says that they are some of the ones that the protein they say is in them is actually used by the body. He says that some of the foods out there (and I don't know which ones) have a big amount of a protein count on the label but that lots of it isn't absorbed. If you want the name let me know, ( I don't have the name handy right now or I'd just post it now.)

I have never lost a lot of weight at one time. It has been pretty slow. I haven't really lost any for several weeks. Part of this is that I am still a bit of a cheater(my weakness is crackers)....I am working on that every day and probably always will.

So, anyway, I am just trying to say that the regret part happened to me sometimes but then it would go away and I thought the eating part was REALLY hard to finally figure out and thought I never would...but I did.

I KNOW you will too...I have always been impressed by your spirit and your positive outlook on everything. I do feel bad that you are having a hard time right now. Here's a hug, and another.

I have had lots of endoscopes and I always say "At least I get good drugs!"

Take care, missy,

Cheryl

Geeze, crackers, saltines in particular, are my downfall too. Do we need to make a "sister pact" to get those evil things out of our cupboards? I told Mike to put them on the very top shelf so that I really have to work at it to get them. That helps some, but mostly if they are anywhere in the house I'll find them. I've even tried locking them in the trunk, but I'm resourceful and if I "need" something bad enough I obsess about it until I have it. When I was little and ill with a bug my dad would buy me "Cheezits". I still think of him when I see them. Won't even bring those in the house, as I absolutely would eat the whole box!

Thanks so much, Cheryl!

Thanks for sharing your beginning struggles with me.  I would like to know the name of the protein shake your surgeon recommended!  That's what I've been looking for -- what proteins are better absorbed by the body than others.  I can't seem to find any information on the internet like what your surgeon was talking about.

At this stage, I'd take ANY weightloss........ LOL  I'd even consider ounces some sort of success.  But, so far, the last 4 weeks - NOTHING.

I don't know what to tell you about your problem with crackers.  Have you ever made cheese crisps?  For me, they work like a cracker because they have crunch.  I had bought some from bariatriceating.com and then made my own with shredded cheese.  I even experimented and added seasoning to them and got all sorts of interesting flavor combinations.

All you do is mound shredded cheese on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper.  I made the mounds about 1 1/2 inches.  I sprinkled garlic on Asiago Cheese and Parmesan Cheese.  Melt them in the oven until they bubble and start to brown.  Cool on a rack.  I stored them in the fridge.

Hugs,

Kathi

I am at work right now, Kathi, but I will get that info when I get home.
I will also give you the info on another one I get that I like. The one the doc recommends actually is pretty tasty and I used it preop too.
The cheesy thingys sound good. I think I am in the grazing out of boredom thing and when I am tired.  I have decided today to make a CONSCIOUS real effort to only eat when I am hungry. My weight may be almost gone but my bad habbits are still there. I have replaced with good habits some but still have the bad that keep me stopped.
I am so sorry you have stalled for so long...that must be sooooo very frustrating and worrisome...I really believe it will break and you will lose again. I think about you everyday and send you positive thoughts and prayers.
TTYL,
Cheryl
