Truth or Dare? Friends...

Dear Friends,
I realized that having a "closed profile" may not be such a great idea, especially omitting Friends.  I welcome anyone interested in sharing "Friend" listing.  I consider myself a fairly conservative and private person.  Many of you already know that I routinely delete PMs, as I believe that it serves to ensuring privacy within this virtual setting.  I have had a form of "lurker" issues in my past and feel that it is time to free myself from this insecurity.
My anxiety caused me to "delete" my previous "Friend" listing.  I would hope that I am able to overcome this feeling now.  It is a big step for me, which would symbolize a personal mini victory.  I welcome you and hope for mutual regard of our privacy.
Sincerely,
Ro

Hi Ro,

Nice to have you with us and hopefully you can let us get to know you, as you get to know all of us.  I can understand wanting a measure of privacy in this world in which we live in and it seems to get harder to do within the framework of computers, so just try generalized postings and for more formal stuff, pm those you wish to have closer relations with.  This board is a safe and loving environment where there seems to be respectful sharing and support.

Looking forward to learning more about you, I read your profile, not sure when you had your surgery, just that you lost more than needed and either was or are struggling to maintain, sometimes I hope to have such a problem, but in reality, we are all different and I am hoping to just be able to realize a healthy weight for my body and overall well being and actually feel that I am within 27 to 32 lbs. of realizing that.

Well have a great day!

Laureen

Hi Laureen,    Thanks for the warm welcome!  I've been on the 50's board a few times in the past months and did get the sense that the MB is a real community.  I'm 1.5 years post-op with an RnY and have the same goal as you... to realize a healthy weight.  I just updated my profile to make it a bit more reader friendly (...forgot to add that I'm 51, which I love!!!).  Looking forward to joining in here.  Glad that you're focused on your goal range!

Hi Ro, I'm pretty much still a newbie here, haven't  had surgery yet, still in the pre-op requirement phase. Hope to have surgery Oct-Nov.  I joined the OH site for additional support from people who have had or  who are going through what I am going through in this journey. I have learned so much about how to do this and what to expect. All in all I've made some new friends who are all supportive. I haven;t had any negative feelings here only positive supportive vibes. Hi, Paulette... You're life is going to change!  I am so happy that I had WLS and that I found OH.
It's great that you decided to locate support before surgery.  I went in not know as much as I should have... there's a lot to learn about our new lives that goes well beyond "eating".

It's really sweet that you, as a newbie, are welcoming me!

Good to know about the Good Vibes!    I just got some from you... Thanks!

Thank you Ro, for trusting our little group with the personal details of your journey.  it is incredible what you have done over time, from your profile, and now that you are Sooo slender, you have new challenges. I suppose that means that we cannot just fix everything in our lives, which of course I know, being over 50,  but the reminder is great.  I am new to the journey, and appreciate your experience. Thanks for posting!

Blessings and hugs, hoping for the best,  Donna H

Hi, Donna...  Thanks for the encouraging words and welcome to the group!  Funny that you should say that there are no quick fixes... even over 50, as I was thinking that just the other day.    I believe that we  "see things coming" in a unique and wiser way than we did in earlier years.  I would not go back to a younger age, but I feel younger since my WLS.

Thank you for the compliment on my loss and journey.

Hope that your journey is full of happiness!
