The Beach and Us
Yesterday morning the youngest grand and I got out of the house by 7. We drove down the hill to Fontana to pick up our great niece.Got on the 15 Freeway south, headed to Point Loma Tidal Pools and then the beach on Coranado. Grand is 11, the great is 7. I was one movin granny yesterday. Had a blast. The weather was perfect, sun got us a Lil' pink, but not to bad. We all tend to tan rather then burn.
Seeing the Tidal Pools with two young girls, who had never been to see that piece of the outdoors was fun. The grand enjoyed the whole experiance, lil' crabs , the waves , sea weed. The great isn't to much of a nature girl, but still had fun with her cousin. When the tide started to come back in, we hauled it back up the cliffs and onward to the beach, beach, beach. The beach , as you can tell was the main attraction for both the girls.
We took a small side trip for lunch. We are retired Navy, so when we drove up to the Main Gate at North Island , Coranado, I whipped out the old I.D. card , onto the base we went. We stopped in the food court , had a Subway. I love to go see the ships , so we drove over to the pier. We saw 2 of America's finest Aircraft Carrier's. The Honey man served his at sea time on Carrier's, so for me to see these huge ships up close once again brings back years of homecomings and departures.
I f you put 3 football fields, set end to end , that is about the lenght of a Carrier, Magnificant. Years ago when my Husband was stationed onboard the U S S Constallation, We , as a family got to transfer up to Bremerton Washington. The Navy gave us a wild trip. 4 DAYS of Sailing onlong the west coast , Cool. The Navy would have paid us to drive , fly , or sail. Set sail we did. We drove our car up onto the hanger bay, moved into a empty Jr. Officers Quarters, and made memorys for a life time.
Onto the beach. We found a parking space , walked onto the sand. I thought the girls had flipped out. Both of them dropped to the sand and started to let the sand run through thier fingers, after all this was the first time either one had felt that special feel of sand flowing off your finger tips. The fun just got better. They both ran to the water , fell in love with the ocean ,I got to watch miles of smiles for hours. We made it home about 8 last evening, had a great day. Go out and enjoy this wonderful land, Hugs, Peg

Ummm no thanks, think I'll pass. Doesn't sound like enough boat for me! Where we fish there's a woman a little younger than me who launches her kayak and paddles to the fishing hole. She actually sits there and catches BIG fish. She lives near the launch and has a four wheeler with a small trailer to tote her kayak. One time we were out there and here she comes with her arm in a cast. We saw her again at the launch, George helped her get the kayak on the trailer.
