HI Joyce,

I'm taking my brother and sis in law to the airport in a few minutes. Early flight. They have to be at airport at 4:30am. I'm the only one around who gets up at such an insane hour! They're headed to St. Louis.

Sure wish I was going! I'm always ready to get on a plane or in a car and head out on an adventure. We have more than enough going on around here right now so Karen must co0\ol that wanderlust for a while. We'll take a couple of days towards the end of July to attend a friend's daughter's wedding in Missoula, MT.  Maggie and I will go camping at Cooper Lake with a couple of girlfriends next week. I look so forward to that each year.

The temp is edging up towards 100+ again. Usually that's the status quo around here for July and August. It's a dry heat, but still when it reaches triple digits it's hard to get out in the middle of the day.  We tend to do our shopping, walking, etc early and  then hibernate during the hottest part of the day.

I've got a corned beef that I got on sale last week. Will stick it in the crockpot with a head of cabbage for dinner. Hope the neighbors like the smell! You all have a good one.

morning! sorry i was off reading something from another board...and now it's about time to get dressed for work.... nothing new..planning for my granddaughter to come for two weeks -that will be enjoyable! does anyone have a george foreman grill? tell me about it...do you use it? do you also have an outdoor bbq grill? (we don't-well we do but it's not an option trust me!) do you like it? is it worth the money? (i'm not talking deluxe model here!)-was pricing them at wally's- there are two models inexpensive enough-free would be better but hey! would work for the two of us- i love grilled meat and would really like to get back to that but don't want to use the outdoor grill..... need to go get a protein shake and get dressed so..... hugs and prayers.....

Margo,    I love my George Foreman ! I cook on it often. I like to take bonelss chicken breasts and flatten them till they're the same thickness across, marinate them and then throw them on George.... mmmmmmm . We have the mid sized model - it'll hold 3 burger patties.  It also has 2 removable grill plates that are non stick and go in the dishwasher. We're shopping for our second gas grill.... the first one has been nearly worn out... of course we even grill in the middle of winter too. John is the official outdoor chef here... and that's fine with me.    As to cutting costs for all sorts of things and doing the planet a favor go to www.freecycle.com    it's a national organization with local chapters almost everywhere. It's main goal is to keep things out of the landfills that still have usefullness. AND it's totally free.... money never changes hands, nor is there any bartering or such.

Margo, we had a GF grill, used it often, then bought a GE indoor grill that we liked better.  (Gave the GF grill to our younger son.)  The GE has detachable/ reversible grills (cooking surface) that can go in the dishwasher.  Somehow, it got put away and forgotten - thanks for reminding me of it.  We've cooked burgers, chicken, fish (lots of fish), shrimp, and veggies, expecially eggplant slices on it and loved it.  There is no outdoor grill flavor though if that's what you're looking for.  We have a charcoal bbq pit for that.  One drawback is the GF or any of the indoor grills do not cook meat with the bone in very well.  I tried a T-bone steak which resulted in uneven cooking.  Going home to make room on the counter for the GE grill.  OH, both our grills were the six burger size, so fairly large.  HTH, Debbie

Yes, I have 2 GF grills, one small and one twice the size. I cook only for myself but I like to cook ahead and refrig or freeze the finished product. I recently grilled thin slices of zucchini for lasagna (no pasta) and I grilled slices of eggplant for eggplant parmesan...I also grilled some slices of onions before putting in the eggplant dish, just for some extra flavor...yum. I cook meat on there as well and works well as long as the thickness is even. I want to try aspargus and other veggies too. It doesn't heat up my kitchen much and easier to clean than using the outside grill. I download quite a few recipes from OFF and try them when I have the ingred on hand. Enjoy! Alice

Margo, I have a GF grill with removable plates ... can even make waffles on it, although I've never used it for that, just steaks, grilled chicken, kabobs, etc. Love it. Use it all the time. I had another one before that you had to clean without removing the plates and it was OK, but this is much better. Got this one off QVC; I know they're cheaper now elsewhere, but I still love this one. I had a tiny one that you could only cook burgers and maybe one steak, one chicken breast at a time on ... that one wasn't so good.

Well, my babies are all gone and my house is all clean again and I miss all the chaos....but it sure was nice to be able to walk out into the liviing room with toys and babies all around and say "any babies need kissin' and have sweet little ones  say "me Nana, I need kisses"...they are all safe and sound back in their own homes. I know we all need to get back to our own lives...but it was fun while it lasted. I am back to my cell phone ringing all day long with families having real estate problems to solve. I am supposed to go to a "motivational seminar today" but I don't think I need it. I think I will just make sure everything is working okay for everyone.'' I have a tooth ache, I think I probably need a root canal and I keep putting it off. Time to face it I guess, and go to the dentist. I also have to visit the chiropractor today, I guess I have been sleeping wrong, I wake up with a pain in my hip. Oh well, time to face the day. Hope your day is wonderful, Love, Marti
