how are we going to survive retirement?
I hear you!!!! My husband took an early retirement at the age of 55 and he is now 69 years old....so I am very very experienced at it.
The secret is separate bedrooms...that starts your separate lives.....and he gets up late and I get up early.....he goes to bed early and I go to bed late......I wake up sometimes during the night.....he hates lights on, tv's on etc......and of course I have them on.
I told him Number 1. I had my own bedroom until I got married...and Number 2...if separate bedrooms are good enough for the King and Queen ...they are good enough for me.
He used to come into my home office and casually glance at my computer screen and if I was on line to you guys....he always commented....SOOOO...I turned my office around..and now I face the door and have my privacy....privacy is what it is all about for us.....they don't seem to really care.
ALSO....when I was going through the six months preparation for this surgery, I had to see a psychiatrist and we talked...and afterwards I knew that I did not have to eat whenever he ate, and sleep whenever he slept.....it has been quite liberating.
He gets up at 9:30 to 10:00 am and eats breakfast around 10:30....so of course doesnt' want lunch at noon like me.....and then eats lunch around 2:30 TO 3:0O:.......so of course is not hungry at 5:30 to 6:00 pm when I am and likes to eat around 7:30 pm, but it actually took a psych consult to help me understand I did not have to live under his schedule.
The secret is not out of meanness, but out of love explain it to him.....they strangley don't seem t o really mind.
Hugs, Marti
ps we will be married 45 years on August 10.

I am going to retire after 36 years working in less than 3 years.
I don't have a husband or a beau at this time.
So, my plan is play cougar and scout out a younger man (one who is at least 10 years younger than I am and of course he must work) so when I am retired, I can do what I want during the day and he can go to work and we can spend the evenings together warming each other up by the fire and taking long walks after dinner ...
Am I dreaming in techni-colour or what ... lol. It's not really a solid plan but i thought I'd post it for the chuckle.
