The weekend continues [even though Debbie thinks it's over]
I sure hope her Basket Guild is on Saturday, or she will be real surprized]
I thought I would have a cup of coffee and check in with you guys. I have been up since 5am being Mother again. Picking up the "trappings of my children's lives"....their laptops, I-phones, baby bottles and oh those shoes from Nolan's very tiny tennis shoes to his Daddy's size 15 tennis shoes and every size in between......BUT I LOVE IT......the table is set [for 10] and the bacon is in the oven, and my Oven French Toast is in the refrigerator waiting to go in the oven, coffee made and my house made right again....for a little while.
The Mommy's and Daddy's hang out in the living room talking late, Mike and I went to bed.
I am so happy my children and their spouses enjoy each other, I feel very blessed. My SIL's parents are coming for breakfast also and then we are going to the Farmer's market and the guys are golfing.
It was great fun at the party yesterday. I swear those children had to be forced out of the pool to eat dinner. The hostess had bought a big inflatable CUBE toy that at least 6-8 children were in all the time. They also have a big slide and diving board...so that also was in great use. The guys played their Bocce Tournament and they are oh so serious about it and have brackets and statistics etc.
Sarah and my Cannoli's were a huge hit....I used little tiny M&M candies and mini chocolate chips on the ends of them and they were scooped up, amist a huge table of desserts. I would say there were at least 60-70 people there throughtout the day....and enough food for 500.
My cousin's SIL is a quiet guy [a psychologist] and he took me aside and said, "I haven't seen you for two years and I just want to tell you not only do you look amazing, but I watched you walk in the Parade this morning and move around here today, in and out of chairs, carrying children around and with no problems...I am very impressed".....I thought that was so sweet of him...he was so serious, not just a toss aside comment.
Well I must run and get my husband up and my bacon out of the oven and the Oven French Toast in and cut up the fruit.....I suppose somewhere along the line I should get dressed, not for the kids, but for my SIL's parents.LOL
Love, Marti
"Be kinder than necessary, for everyone is fighting some kind of battle"
Ohhh Marti, what a wonderful scene you have described. NOTHING is more precious than those feelings of contentment when the family comes home with the kids. I had a wonderful time at my son's home yesterday. And again today we will be together. My only disappointment is the second son & his family won't be there with us. They could not afford to travel. Anyway, ENJOY ENJOY ENJOY ...... Millie
