What's new Sunday July 5, 2008?

Happy "Sunday" (a day early) to you, Debbie! I'll just call today Sunday, Part 1....   Wouldn't "perfect" be boring?

I struggled yesterday and got 107 grams of protein in.  Ugh....  It's not fun to be challenged but I did it.  I hope it's enough to make a difference because I don't think I could consume any more than that.  I did ea****ermelon (recommended by the surgeon's office for potassium) and it was sort of icky.  I ate it anyway but, today, I'm moving on to banana in my protein shake.  Took my b/p yesterday morning and it was still low at 98/56.  I really hope that improves soon, too.  What would life be without challenges, right?

We decided not to go to July 4th celebrations as I didn't feel I could do all the walking involved to get there from the car.  We hope to see our little grandson this weekend to make up for that.  Watched fireworks on tv from New York and Boston and enjoy that.

Nothing planned for either "Sunday" (today or tomorrow) except it's time to clean around here!

Hugs to each and every one,

Kathi

thank you Connie, I'll work on the cloning - What color ribbon would you like him wrapped in?  Yeah, he's good and I let him know he is appreciated.

Hi Debbie! Yes, it IS SATURDAY - I know because it is Saturday at WImbledon and I am glued to the TV. Soon a bike ride is in order because it is beautiful weather in TOLEDO, OH.  Just wanted to say hi because we are very close in proximity!  Are you going to the Delta Chicken Festival - or did I miss it?  I was a professor at UT and supervised student teachers with many physical educators in the Swanton and Delta schools. Best Wishes!

Hi Carol. I think the chicken festival was a few weeks ago.  Not sure however!  I have only gone once quite a while ago.  You must be in Toledo area?  Nice to meetcha!  I didn't know there was another NW Ohioan on the board!

Yeah - somehow I can't get the word Toledo to come up!  At any rate, I went to the Chicken Festival once and that was enough. I guess it is nice for the locals!

Hi Debbie and my OFF family: Wow, I knew I slept late but not that late ... sorry Debbie, but I had to make a joke out of it! I was chuckling at the Sunday heading.  Well, of course, I'm working most of the weekend ... getting in lots of hours for lots of money. Next week's paycheck will be extra big, even with only half a paycheck from the bankruptcy trustee. Oh, and by the way, some good news ... drum roll please(couldn't find a drum roll!) the bankruptcy court approved my new budget, so I will be getting an extra $50 a week in my paycheck soon (don't know when, but soon, whenever the bankruptcy trustee puts it through). Woo-hoo! That, and my boss giving me some OT whenever he can, will help a lot. I'm starting to see some light at the end of the financial tunnel, so to speak. But now my tummy is giving my problems. I had my AchievOne this morning and my pouch hurt ... never had that before ... usually everything goes done well and then I get gas, which is typical, but this is hurting right below my boobs, which is where I think my pouch is. I'm worried that the Celebrex I was urged to take by my ortho doc to help my patellar tendinitis in my replacement knee is starting to cause an ulcer in my pouch. I never had problems with NSAIDs before, and I was told if I didn't before, I shouldn't now (that was from the ortho PA). But now I'm concerned. I'll give it a couple more days, and if it continues, I'll call the bariatric center with my concerns. This is the first day I've had problems.  We had big fireworks downtown last night, so I got to see some of them as I was going home. Watched some from the office window, then left before the majority of people left the show so I wouldn't get caught in traffic. So as I was driving home on the highway, I saw Grand Rapids fireworks, plus shows from all over the area. It was rather spectacular. Plus there were individual non-sanctioned shows too. And then there were the idiots still shooting off firecrackers at 2 in the morning around my condo complex. I don't mind it earlier, but not at 2 a.m. Well, I guess I'll take my shower, get dressed and have some lunch; I don't have to go to wor****il 4:30 p.m. and I only work 5 hours today. Still, it's time and a half pay.  Have a good Saturday everyone.

Deb,,,my Bariatric Sugeon (his office and hospital is Center of Excellence two times) recommends we not take NSAIDS but if we have to to only take for max of one week because of the risk of ulcers.  Please check with your bariatric doc.

It is His love and grace that saved and sustains me.

Joan, my bariatric center (also a center of excellence ... head doc invented stuff used in WLS) approved the use of Celebrex ... I said I wouldn't take it unless it was approved. I didn't want to take it, but right now I'm in so much pain I'd chew nails if it would work. but I'll tell ya, Celebrex ain't doing the job either ... it's been two weeks now and I'm still in pain and my knee is still swollen. Took two vicodin last night to get to sleep it hurt so bad. Ortho doc said give it a month to fully work, so that's what I'm doing.

Hi Debbie, Hi All, Well! Husband and I got woke up at 4:47am by a loud crash bam wham! Not the first time this has happened (have had 1 car totaled and 3 cars nearly totaled parked on the street beside our house) and probably won't be the last, but now we park in the alley) Anyway, we ran to the window and there was an idiot in a SUV on our lawn. He finally took off and parked about 1/4 down the block in front of our neighborhood "drug house." Got out, started screaming at the people there, (a lovely group of people too, they have couches and crap in the yard where they all sit and drink and have fights etc. all day and night.) ANYWAY, Tom gets the license plate ( we have called 911) and one of the guys living there tells us the driver's name. The police officer comes and says he knows the hit and run guy from high school and that his address is in a small town afew miles from here. This means that NO ONE is going to go arrest him and the only way he will "get in trouble" is if another officer spots him on his way to where ever he was going, or he gets tabs or renews his license. I guess they don't send anyone out to his home or anything. Hmmmm.... Annette, I am thinking of you and keeping you in my thoughts. Hug and another hug to you. Hope that is all of the excitement at our house today. Have very nice Saturday ladies and gent, or gents if more men have posted. Cheryl
