STARS AND STRIPES FOREVER
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Scooching the soap box over to center stage
*~*~*~*~*~*~* AIN'T LIFE IN AMERICA GRAND *~*~*~*~*~ .... I wish everyone... yes, everyone could celebrate the 4th of July like Marti's family and others ... Gatherings to celebrate our country's birth, A reminder of who we Americans are and where we have come from. Traditions steeped in who we are as a person, as a family, as a community, as a country. What other country has people clamoring to get in like we do. Where else do many nations (love us or hate us) turn to for help. Are we perfect? Oh heck no..... just like family. But, we are free.. as free as we want to be... free with choices about how we want to live, and opportunities abound for us. Free to worship how we want, Free to live how we want........ It is our responsibility to maintain our Freedoms by the way we live, the way we make choices regarding our great nation .... voting locally and nationally. No matter what we are facing .... Life in America is Grand.... Millie ....... My favorite sayings: AMERICA, HOME OF THE FREE BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE ..... FREEDOM ISN'T FREE
PS:... Today and Tomorrow will be BBQ celebrations not only for the Fourth of July but also as a celebration for my son. This weekend will be the last time many family & friends will see him before he leaves for his second tour in Iraq. No, I don't worry about him. It is this type of soldier we lean on in times of need. Not a popular war but which one was? He is a true blue American and a very able soldier. I come from a long line of military families ... grandparents uncles, husband (ex) and now sons. Four years ago two of my sons served in the National Guard. They were deployed to Iraq and were stationed together in Baghdad. ..... Scooching my soapbox off center stage........ Be Safe, Be Happy, Be Free ..Millie
Millie, what a wonderful post.....yes, Freedom does come with a cost, and many lives have been lost to give us the freedoms we enjoy.....too bad so many take them for granted.
On this 4th of July, I pray, God Bless America, the land of the free and the home of the Brave. Let us be forever thankful.

I am sitting here listening to the fireworks go off and think that is for the birth of our nation. The most wonderful nation in the world. One that everyone comes to in times of strife and problems even if they feel good negative about us. We are always there to help eveyone, my wish is that every nation could be the same way.
I wish to thank every person who is serving our country during this time and the time before and the times that will come in the future, but I pray that there isn't any in the future. Unfortunately freedom is not free and so many families are living with that fact. I may not agree with this war but I am always going to support the people who are there doing what they are trained to do and are doing it willingly.
May God bless all of us and may He always bless the good U.S.A.
