May go on twice...

Guess what.  I am ten days out of surgery and feeling pretty hungry in the afternoons and evenings. I am wondering how much of this is habit (eating at night) and how much may be attributed to not having enough protein during the day.  Or, my body feeling sorry for itself...  I have had a lot of problems with dairy; even the lactose free milk has not agreed with me.  I got some soy milk but excess soy can create problems as well.   So, as you can well imagine, I will be looking forward to my first Dr. visit.      I am very excited about all of the things I am going to be able to do when a good portion of this weight is gone.   At 64, I don't intend to waste any time.   Is a marathon in my future? hahahahaaha There are people older than me out there.   Before the surgery, I bought a new bike; it's called a Townie.  When you stop, your feet are flat on the ground.  I have had a men's bike for the past ten years, but I got to the point of being afraid I would fall over.  At 290 that would have caused a big crash and lots of broken stuff, like the sidewalk.  Plus, it's hard to ride at night so no one can see you.       For those of you out there fresh out of surgery, keep a good attitude and everything will be fine.  Like my husband, Bill, says:  The first 100 years are the hardest.  Mikelanne

With a sense of humor, and what appears to be good common sense, you should be a marathoner by next spring ;) Hugs, Laureen

Mikelanne, what you're experiencing is probably "head hunger".  A thought, my grandson was allergic to most types of milk, DIL gave him rice milk with no problems.  Must have been difficult to milk those tiny grains of rice...LOL  I don't know about a marathon, but you're in for one heck of a ride!  Best wishes on your wls journey. "Must have been difficult to milk those tiny grains of rice...LOL" Just the woodworking skill involved making those tiny milking stools boggles the mind! OK... now we're just getting silly... hehehe....

Hey Marc, it just goes to show that we can do anything when we set our minds to it. Even making tiny little milking stools for rice. haha So glad to see you chime in! You make our day with your funnies. Love and hugs to you sweet brother of mine. You know I never had a brother (only a BIL and we don't really see eye to eye on a lot of things if you know what I mean) and so it is nice knowing that I have some here.

Thank you! Thank you!  I never thought of rice milk, but I went out and bought some today.  Have a great 4th.  Mikelanne

You are going to be so happy with your results.  Just drink your fluids, try to get the protein in, and ride the hell out of that bike and you'll be a skinny minny before youknow it.
