10 days out
Guess what. I am ten days out of surgery and feeling pretty hungry in the afternoons and evenings.
I am wondering how much of this is habit (eating at night) and how much may be attributed to not
having enough protein during the day. Or, my body feeling sorry for itself... I have had a lot of
problems with dairy; even the lactose free milk has not agreed with me. I got some soy milk but
excess soy can create problems as well. So, as you can well imagine, I will be looking forward
to my first Dr. visit.
I am very excited about all of the things I am going to be able to do when a good portion of this
weight is gone. At 64, I don't intend to waste any time. Is a marathon in my future? hahahahaaha
There are people older than me out there. Before the surgery, I bought a new bike; it's called a
Townie. When you stop, your feet are flat on the ground. I have had a men's bike for the past ten
years, but I got to the point of being afraid I would fall over. At 290 that would have caused a big
crash and lots of broken stuff, like the sidewalk. Plus, it's hard to ride at night so no one can
see you.
For those of you out there fresh out of surgery, keep a good attitude and everything will be
fine. Like my husband, Bill, says: The first 100 years are the hardest. Mikelanne
Things will get easier......most times it is just head hunger.
Like you said you were used to eating then...it takes awhile for that to improve. As you can eat more dense protein you will stay filled up faster and that will help alot.
Your bike story made me chuckle.....oh my... a broken side walk......so funny!! Don't be ashamed of riding your bike in the daytime. You are exercising and you should be proud of that.
Honey you will lose the weight and then you will really be flying around the neighborhood on that bike!!
Keep us posted after the doctor's visit!!
Hugs, connie d
Congratulations on the great start of your new life.
Like Connie said so much of it is head hunger. We too get use to stuffing our mouths and it is a hard habit to break. But we have to remember one thing and that is that it is not impossible to break. We are so use to stuffing down our feelings too with food and now we are going to have to face our feelings and that is not always fun.
Love the story about the bike. I am trying to figure out how you can stop and have your feet on the ground. I guess it must be to simple for me to comprehend in my mind. I seem to do better when it is more hard to do. haha I don't know what is wrong with me! I have been trying for 54 years to figure me out and haven't done it yet~in fact not even close!
I guess what your husband Bill (that is my hubbys name too!) says is true. Once you get past the first 100 years it is easy street. haha
