Honestly, this is driving me nutz.  I don't have flaky scalp.... but my head is itching to beat the band.  I've scratched it so much now I've to 3 little sores... and that's not a good thing either.  I bought some stuff at the store to put on my head to keep it from itching.... What the heck? Janet

Hi Janet, it's funny you mentioned about the itching....I was online yesterday searching for something to help my hair loss. I am pre-op and the last 6 months have been losing alot...I too have itchy scalp with no flaking, no signs of irritation, no redness. I've read all the posts of the biotin/protein controversy. So, I found a chinese herb.."Chinese knotweed" or "polygonum" that is used for centuries by the Chinese for hair loss, thinning hair and itchy scalp. I ordered from a company called "Bio Essence Corp" that had all kinds of Chinese herbs. It'll take a few wks to get it and it supposed to take several wks before any changes are noticeable. Also, I've been using products to make my hair feel thicker, more manageable and apparently they are not good for the scalp. So, I'm trying different things to help my hair come back before the surgery. Have a great day! Alice

Yanno, Carla, I was wondering the same thing.  I've not changed shampoo or conditioner and I've not been around anyone but my grandchildren for kids... and believe it or not, I've checked their hair..... they were over last night......  As best I can recollect, can't you find nits in a fine comb? Isn't this terribly unpleasant to talk about?  And now..... one more thing for an old lady to worry about!! Janet

Hey Janet, Carla asked the same questions I'd ask....changes of shampoo, conditioner, color product, etc.  Where is is itching?  Those little buggers really prefer the nape area, seem to go there first. They are VERY  tiny and probably wouldn't comb out with even the finest toothed comb you might have. They're even hard to see, harder yet on your own head!  Is there someone who could take a close look for you? Lice attach themselves to the hair shaft, so look there. They will look like specks of dark dandruff. I don't know, constipation or lice???  We cover it all here, don't we? Hugs to ya.

Janet, I dont think you see the nits in a fine regular comb. But with u having red hair it should show up pretty well. It usually takes 10 days to incubate. Carla

Well, got the neighborhood nurse to check it out.  Clean bill of health.  Had friend come over who is a hairdresser.... clean bill of health.  WHEW!! I went the gammut when my kids were small with the nit/scabies thing....  of course that's the first thing I thought of.   Now I'm wondering what it is.... really..... I just took a Benadryl. Janet

Hi Janet, A lady in my support had this happen for several months. She bought all kinds of things and nothing helped. She a had routine blood test and found out that she was extremely low in Vitamin A. He told her to start taking Vitamin A. She did and nothing happened. She emailed Vitalady and she told her that we cannot take Vitamin A (pill form that we cannot absorb it). She had her try Vitamin A 10,000 IU that dissolve instantly in your mouth. In two weeks it was gone. She went back for a blood test and her Vitamin was normal.  Debi
