This doesn't seem right

Sorry if this is TMI, but I'm verrrry concerned.  I'm a 62 year woman.  I had my lapband surgery 2 1/2 months ago.  I've  had absolutely no problems.  In the first week or so after surgery I experienced kind of like a mini period.  I called nurse, she said sometimes anesthesia ..sorry about the spelling...can do that, even though I haven't had a period in 10 years...It went away after about a week.  , but this morning, two months later...guess what's back?  There was actually a small blood clot and some (not a lot)  bright red blood on the tissue when I went to the bathroom ...no pain, nothing else.  Everything else seems fine, but this doesn't seem normal.  Has anyone else experienced anything like this?  I have no problem seeing my ob/gyn, but if it's something that's fairly common...I'd like to wait it out.   Again, I apologize if this is too personal, but y'all seem quite open and transparent on this forum.  TIA for any replies.

Hi There, I had the samething only I dont have what it takes to have a period!!!!! I had a hormone imbalance. I would go to the doc to have it checked out. Loosing weight can bring on a period. Carla

Becky, Don't apologize, very few topics are too personal here. I have no idea but it doesn't seem too absurd. WLS does make our hormones go out of whack. Still, give you WLS doctor and your OB/GYN a call too. Just to be safe, get it checked by a professional. Annette

If you haven't had a period in over ten years, this is something to get checked out.....anytime you see bright red blood, it should indicate to you that you need to have it checked.....call your PCP or OB/GYN and at least speak to them on the phone. I had this about a month ago....come to find out it was a small cyst that had broken at the opening to the vagina. It cleared up quickly -- and the Doc had me apply "corn starch" to the area, believe it or not!!!!

No question will ever go unanswered on this forum, so don't hesitate to ask.

Let us know the outcome.

While you are losing your excess fat you are also losing your stored up hormones. Hormones go raging during this time. This is why some have the surgery in order to conceive. I would suggest you call your PCP and talk to them about it, they may be able to give you something to help you and or ease your mind during this time. I did not have this problem as I had had a hysterectomy 30 years prior to WLS. Keep  us posted and contrats on your weight loss so far.

thanks so very much for your replies....as abruptly as that episode began, it also ended.  No more signs of bleeding...nothing.  I kinda think it's still hormonal or surgery related.  I'm scheduled for my annual female check up in July...if there is no more blood...I'm going to just wait until then...BUT i do plan to call my surgeon's nurse tomorrow morning first thing, just to be sure.
