What can I do about lizard skin?
The other day I bought a size 12 denim skort at the Goodwill store for $3.99. It's a bit loose, but I couldn't get the size 10's over my hips, and overall I'm pleased with the way I look in it. Here it is:
So what's the problem, you ask? The problem is that this is the first time in about 20 years that I've worn a short skirt or shorts, and I'm distressed to find that the 54-yr-old skin on my legs looks like lizard skin. I put body lotion on my legs last night but it still looks like lizard skin today.
Does anybody have a suggestion for a good product to combat this?
thanks,
Jean

Hi Jean, I have extremely dry skin (alligator skin on my legs) and I have been using Oil of Olay In Shower Body Lotion. After you shower while still wet you smooth it on then rinse with water and towel dry. I had a sample and got such good results that I bought a bottle about 2 weeks ago and have seen a dramatic improvement. I also bought an Oil of Olay Hand lotion with collagen that I use a couple times a day on my hands which has helped there too. Paulette

good point Margo....I also increased my water intake since I am on a diuretic, so it could be dehydration too....Hugs, Paulette
Margo,
No, my arms aren't lizardy, though the skin on them isn't exactly baby fresh, either.
I think you're right about dehydration. Overall, my skin is in a lot better shape now than it was pre-op, and I'm sure it's because of the increased water intake. I drink 80 oz/day, but I've been exercising a lot more lately and probably not replacing the fluid lost through sweat.

Ohhh I'm just learning about dry skin... Had oily skin for years... all my life... I use Oil of Olay body wash then when skin is moist I use Balmex. Same ointment for diaper rash, etc. It is thick and needs to be rubbed in... a little goes a long way. I didn't like the feel of lotions and creams. It does wonders for my skin. Good Luck ... Millie
Jean, you look good in the skort. I wish that I could find something like that. I was at Goodwill today and found a pair of dress pants in a 16 but they were to big. I tried on a pair of white linen pants in a 14 and they were a bit to snug. But the main problem is that both pairs legs were way to big for me. I always had this problem but now it so much worse.
I like the Huggies Shea Butter lotion for babies. It smells so good and it keeps your skin so soft too. Bill's cousins grandson has bad skin problems and they use that on him and it helps him a lot. I know that it helps me and my dry skin. You get it by the baby lotion in the department store.
Jean,
Great legs, great skort!
My skin used to be dry and ugly. Legs and arms were bad, the feet and elbows looked like leather.
I began applying Avon Skin So Soft Bath Oil directly to wet skin after my shower. After drying off I apply lotion all over, again throughout the day and again at bedtime. No special brand, rather all different brands from cheap to pricey.
I don't think the brand matters as much as frequency of application. Plus we need to DRINK our water. Hydrate from the inside out.
Too bad wrinkle creams don't work as well, but I have soft wrinkles.
