Good Morning, Well I woke up to Carl calling me at 0730 on my day off!!!!! I said what are you doing up so early????? Seems he is worried about his cousin who lives in Guffey Colorado where some fires are. They might be evacuated. Ill have to call her. It looks like rain today so not sure what I am going to do today. Lily is home from Georgia with her mom. She is going to daycare. Ill see her later on tonight. HMMM scents I used in the past. Lets see I love a french perfume called Joy. It is about 100.00 a dram. Ambush was the one in High School but it gave me migraines!!!!! I love Haiku from Avon now. Well off to clean the house. Carla

Good morning all, More of the same for me today. working in the master bedroom. Yesterday I took some time off of that project and did some ironing (yuk) and some mending and cleaning. So today the task master is calling from the bedroom. I posted this in a couple places but thought I'd post it here too.. Had a wow moment today..  My nutritionist is right!  After 1 week of making sure I have 1000 calories a day I have lost 2 lbs, yipee!!! since March I have only lost 2 pounds per month on 700-900 calories. Amazing how eating more seems like it shouldn't work but it does. Maybe that means my metabolism is actually working.  Have a great day , Paulette

Wow, there is a big yellow thing in the sky today and it gives off the most beautiful light and warmth. I sure hope it sticks around. We have had so much rain that the minute I walk outside i am covered with mosquitos.. yuck, I bet the instance of West Nile Virus cases will be through the roof. Ijust hate the way bug repelent feels and smells but I did use a Deep Woods Off wipe before going out yesterday and it worked great. I may just have to get used to it. I planted a row of leaf lettace, spring greens and spinach that is all ready, I have been giving away bags full. It will start to bolt in a couple of days, I wish I could give you all some. I also have radishes. I don't even like them, planted them just for my son-in-law. I have been making egg drop soup with the spinach every day, yoummmy, but talk about tummy grumblings. Spinach is something I could actually freeze and thatI planted the least of. Chuck and I went to a meeting last night. round trip about 90 miles and we took the motorcycle. It was so awesome coming home, there were so many fireflies that is was like riding through the stars. I will be going to the Arts Festival and a farmers market with Liz( DD) tomorrow, other than that who knows what I will be doing. I love  not having lots of plans. I do know there will be garden work but that I love. I bought myself a year pass to the local Botanical garden, and I do mean local, it is with in a mile of my house. If that big yellow thing stays in the sky Ijust may go down there and walk this afternoon. Have a wonderful weekend everyone. P.S. to those who asked, my daughter Liz has a blood disorder and has been told her body will most likely reject a pregnancy, if she is even able to conceive. 6 months ago she became Pg and it was terrible, she was in and out of the hospital finally losing the baby and we almost lost her. So thats why the fact that she is PG again, is such a mixed emotion. They so want a baby and are ust made tobe parents. buttttttttttt, you understand. It is in Gods hands now.

Aloha Annette and OFF family extraordinaire!

Ah, it's 6:30 a.m. and I have a NO PLANS day ahead!! Seems lately like there is always something on my calendar, and I much rather have a blank page that I can do with whatever I feel like.

Yesterday I was at the hospital learning the procedure for testing newborn hearing on outpatient basis. Then I went to IMUA office and they definitely want me to work for a woman going on vacation for the next two weeks. I am so happy to do it....and it will give me a little more income. These days I know we are all struggling with higher prices on everything! Gasoline here is now $4.75 a gallon. My brother in Calif. told me this morning on IM that they expect gas to get to $7.00 a gallon! I can't even imagine how that is going to affect so many things. I really feel for the people who have a long commute!!

It's a little overcast this morning...so the ocean looks gray rather than it's usual brilliant golden or deep blue. The gardeners will be here soon to make our yard look glorious, BUT they are noisy so I think I'll get myself into the shower and out of here and maybe do some thrift store shopping....uh huh...just talked myself into it!! Ha!

Here's hoping you all have a wonderful day.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Karen, I heard the same thing on the news last night. By the year 2010 they said that gas is more than likely going to be $7.00 a gallon. I sure hope the paychecks go up as much!!!

I just thought that I would pop in and tell everyone hi. I am up at the church office this morning and it seems like the morning when nothing was suppose to happen I had an office full of people! So I didn't have a chance to post this morning. I am going to be leaving soon and will post later on when Bill goes to work. I have some errands to run later on so it will most likely be a short one. I know! Now everyone on going to faint because no one can imagine me being short! Except that is in stature only!!!! Talk to you all later on.

Hi Annette and all: Yeah, there's always so much stuff we have to do. For me, there's work and litter boxes and things around the house; the house cleaning gets done by the cleaning lady because that's too hard on my back and knees. I'm on the phone with Carla now; just got back from my 4-year checkup and all is well, plus the gall bladder scan is OK. ( see separate post) So I'm all good. The only other appointment I have left is a yearly checkup with the sleep doctor, which is at the end of the month. Oh, and another appointment with the ortho doc in August.  Here's a quote from my cat calendar: "Cats are possessed of a shy, retiring nature, cajoling, haughty, difficult to fathom. They reveal themselves only to certain favored individuals and are repelled by the faintest suggestion of insult or even by the most trifling deception."  -- Pierre Loti Sound like any cats we know, Annette? Anyway, off to have lunch and think about work. Have a good day.

Eileen, it sounds like my little Misty too. She only reveals herself to Bill and I and a chosen few~and when I say few that is just what I mean too. And if you talk to her and she doesn't like what you are saying you know it. She turns her head and ignores you or she gets up and turns her back to you. She just thinks she is the queen even though I keep telling her she is just the princess since I am the queen. It is one of those ignore you times! haha

Eileen, Most of that description fits my furbrats. They are not at all shy and retiring. When people come to the house, all 8 stampede to greet the visitors and thoroughly examine them.  Each one seems to have favorite people for certain.  I read about your 4 year check up but didn't have time to respond earlier. You have come so far and are doing very well with the WLS. Congratulations!! Those poor knees haven't been very kind to you. Have you considered a different Ortho doctor? It doesn't seem right for you to endure such pain. Hugs Annette
