Gaining after 3 years
Eating less? Eating less is not always a good thing...your body may be in a stavation mode (I think that's what they call it) and is not giving up the weight. Have you gone back to the basics? Are you drinking water? Are you exercising daily? Key factors and a must for not just WLS, but anyone maintaining a HEALTHY LIFESTYLE! I'm 17mos post-op and I will admit that the weight loss os coming off slower and I have to change things to keep it moving, but I do know what puts the weight on and what takes the weight off.
Trying going back to the basics....
PROTEIN....WATER...VITAMINS...EXERCISE

I keep telling people that things happen in 3's with WLS. I warn people of year 3. Everyone seems to tout how good their labs are for the first couple years and get lax about taking their supplements and then BANG, here's year 3 and now they are in trouble. When reaching year 3, everything starts to balance out on your body. Things fill in more....your mind says, oh, I'm eating too much so I'll cut down on my food intake, that's when we start having problems also. Your body won't give up those extra pounds cause it thinks it's not going to get any more. Feed it and the body says, oh, more is coming, I'll let the extra fat go then.
I get so agitated when people say they have lost x amount of pounds gone "forever". It's not gone forever, it's ability to come back is there and waiting to rear it's evil head.
Hope your labs are good.

Hi Darlene, I haven't had wls yet but you said above "I'm eating too much so I'll cut down on my food intake, that's when we start having problems also. Your body won't give up those extra pounds cause it thinks it's not going to get any more. Feed it and the body says, oh, more is coming, I'll let the extra fat go then. My nurtritionist has been saying something similar to this to me for the past 2 months that at 800 cals a day my metabolism has shut down and I need to eat more to lose weight, it is a really hard concept to wrap my head round but maybe I finally get it...Thanks Paulette
