Good morning Annette and all, Had appts yesterday and played with the grands in the afternoon had a tea party, the girls love it. We used the glass dishes my mother got when she was 12 years old (1943). Sami (4) was a hoot , playing Miss Manners. Cheyanne (6) got Papa to sit and have Tea (coffee for him) with us, but told him he couldn't eat all the cookies he had to share!!! (I ate 4- vanilla wafers and then quit, that was hard)  Today is back to working on the master bedroom, It seems to be one step forward two steps back on this project...LOL.. We looked for wood flooring the other day, the one I like was way too expensive so back to the drawing board.  Earl is almost ready for me to prime the door and window trim. It is hot and humid here today so we closed up the house and put the a/c on.    Hope you all have a great day, Paulette

Good Morning Sis and OFF Family, Hope you all are doing well today, it's my Friday and I'm looking forward to a relaxing weekend close to home.  Tomorrow I have my 9 month post-op visit and then am meeting up with my friends, Sister Jan and Arlene, we are going to have lunch and hang out at Arlene's pool, weather permitting.  Many of my friends are away this weekend, so Saturday and possibly Sunday I will hang at my friend Diane's pool, as I have her permission to hang out there whenever I want and maybe on Sunday Tony and I will go to dinner for my b-day. As for perfumes, for many years I could not take too many scents, as I was highly sensitive to them, especially the Estee Lauder ones, like Cinnabar and such, I had an asthma attack on a subway because a woman had dosed herself in Jean Nate, to this day I cannot tolerate that one, though I no longer suffer quite the same effects.  Once had to ask a co-worker of mine to stop wearing her fragrance, she wore Paloma Picasso, beautiful scent, but actually made me gag from some ingredient in it.  So for years I wore, patchouli oil, I would mix it in unscented body lotion and make my own, sometimes adding sandalwood or vanilla oils.  I actually got called in by a supervisor and was asked to stop wearing it at the request of several attorney's in the office, I explained how I was allergic to many scents and that I had had to deal with other people and did not like being singled out, but I gave in and stopped wearing it to work, about 3 months later, I was called in again and asked again to stop wearing it, to which I responded that I no longer wore it to work, but they being it is an oil, the scent probably lingered on my coats and such, that should they wish to pay for my entire wardrobe being dry cleaned, that could be arranged, needless to say it became a non-issue after that.  My Mom wore Nina by Nina Ricci, it smelled wonderful on her and once about a year after she died, I sprayed some on my wrist, well I was gagging the whole day through. . .  Today I can wear some frarances, I love Madamesille Coco for the winter, Rockin Rose is a nice summer fragrance and I still wear Patchouli oil on occasion ;)  soft clean scents work best for me. . . Hope you all have a wonderful day and if I don't get to post, a great weekend! Hugs, prayers and positive thoughts for all, Laureen

Hi Annette, I'm enjoying my summer break. I work a few hours here and there, but I'm not supposed to be working. I am ironing today. That happens about once every six months! I'm also cleaning and doing laundry. I will go out for a bike ride at some point. In response to your question about fragrance, I find that my fragrance preferences change as I change. When I was about 40 I went through a very tough time- as I came out of the gloom I was drawn to a new fragrance that I wore for many years. It was "Lauren" which to me was a musky, sexy scent. It went with who I was then. Now I am wearing a much lighter scent (when I wear one) called "Shi". I am looking for a new signature scent now- but nothing is calling out to me. I do not have any difficulty making decisions, but I know when something is "right". So when I find my new scent I will know.  Julia

Julia, I wish we had smello-computers. I have never smelled Shi - sounds interesting.  Have you noticed your sense of smell has changed since WLS? Mine sure has. Some things smell better, other things smell ghastly. Annette

When I was describing my sensitivity to fragrances to a coworker, she asked if my heightened sense of smell meant that I had a heightened sense of taste ... I replied, "Hmmm, don't know ... maybe that's why I always ate so much!" Since WLS, I notice fragrances are even worse than before ... can't take them at all now, to the point they throw me into asthma attacks, which I never had before (you can ask Carla about that!). So, yes, maybe it is tied into our sense of taste too.

Very interesting point Eileen. Isn't it true that when we have a cold and can't smell, we can't taste either? Bodies are so complicated. If we ever get the chance to meet, I will have to remember to leave my smelly stuff at home.
