I went for my heart cath last week and ended up in Intensive Care Unit. on life support.  Turns out I was allergic to the dye they inject in you and fluid built up in my lungs and I could not breath.  I spent 2 days in icu on the vent and then was moved to Temedery (sp) before I came home so now I have to have a sleep study test and also I'm seeing a lung specialist and a heart specialist and I was scheduled for my wls on June 17th then since I had to have a heart cath she changed it to July 1.  Now I don't know when and if I will get to have it done.  It was like a house was dropped on me and told me to get my priorities straight.  I guess because I wanted this wls so bad that I put it before everything else.  I know that was wrong but for once in my life I wanted to do something for myself and to be proud of that accomplishment.  I just have to wait now and see what the test says. I am kinda afraid now and my family is devestaed and says they don't want to lose me.  I have been through alot just about losing my life last week and I am very confused now. There was no question before this happened to me I was gonna have wls and that was that.  Now like I said I am confused and I just needed some one to listen and you guys have always been there for me. On top of all of fthis I can't get rid of this sore throat that I got from the tube on the breathing machine. Its not getting any better just more sore.  Thanks for letting me vent.  Hug's  Sharon D.

Oh, Sharon, Sometimes bad things happen to good people & it seems like you got unlucky.    On the other hand, you have survived.  You must have had great Doctors to react quickly to take the necessary actions.   Also, it sounds like you have a very loving family.     And yeah, you got us for sure!!!!!    I'm sure I'd be shook up too if all that happened to me.    Just get better for now, one step at a time.   Get rid of that sore throat & get some rest.   When you're feeling better & stronger, you'll be able to think clearly & make the right choices.     This is kinda big stuff, so I think I'd be willing to get professional counseling if I thought it might help.    You are a good person, and I believe that good things are in your future ---  but first you just gotta recover & get to feeling better.   I hope you feel the love coming your way!

WOW .......... sounds like you were flirting with the dark side. Only thing I can say is take it one day at a time and go slow if you need to. The healthier you are going into the surgery the healthier you will come out of it. I know... you know all this but, just remember we are confirming what you already know. Take your time... when you are feeling better then you can think more clearly. Rest and relax..... All good things come to those who wait.... My prayers are with you..... Millie

sharon...oh my! thank goodness your docs reacted quickly....i can understand you being confused and having mixed feelings...i have a question tho ???? were there any problems with your lungs before this happened??? i mean...the allergic reaction shouldn't keep you from surgery..... i know that i went into my sleep study kicking and screaming that i couldn't possibly have apnea....and now i am so grateful to know how serious it could have been ....certainly having this setback is unnerving...i think tho that you will come out the healthier if you have any of these issues addressed before surgery so that you are your best going in to it!!!! hugs and prayers to you!!!!

Sharon, I am so glad that your doctor's acted quickly. I am glad that you are feeling better now. Of course with the exception of the sore throat, which in time is going to go away. I think that you should get through all of this first before making any decisions on the wls. I can see your hesitation on having it done but in time things change in our minds. I don't know why a allergic reation would stop you from having surgery but I would make sure I question things and weigh the pro's and con's of surery. You will come to the right decision for you, and I will keep you in my prayers. Take care of yourself and get through all of this before making any choices for your life right now.

Sharon,

OMG!  Thankfully you are still here with us, your doctors took good care of you and hopefully your sore throat will be gone soon!

As for whether you will continue to pursue WLS, well give yourself time to get past the trauma of what you just went through before deciding, that and discussing it further with your doctors.  Finish going through your testing and just take your time, as you will know in your heart what the right choice is for you.

Hugs, prayers and positive, healing thoughts coming to you, Laureen

Sharon, wow, I don't know what to say.....you have been through a tremendous ordeal. It sounds like you have a very good medical staff looking over you so I would trust them and just take things one day at a time.  Remember we are all here for you anytime you need a friend. Hugs, Paulette
