Hi Annette and all:
Sorry the medical issues keep haunting you Annette. Hope you get those straightened out soon.
I spent the morning at an informal support group meeting with some West Michigan folk at the local mall. It was just four of us ... most of them fairly early out, and none of them RNY ... two duodenal switch and the other gastric sleeve. Very interesting learning what they go through vs. what I had to learn nutritionally. The one woman was very well-versed in the nutrition for DS ... but she had to learn this all on her own because she didn't learn it from our dieticians, unfortunately, who are only prepared for RNY patients even though they are counseling other surgical patients. That's too bad. The gastric sleeve patient is just a few weeks out and having a little difficulty getting all her meals and fluids in. She has three little ones, and had all the kids with her ... a Down syndrome boy and twin girls. Oh my, what a handful! Needless to say, they are all younger than me too. But very nice and it was fun and interesting meeting and talking. I had met the other two ladies the last time, but the other woman was new; she had a lot of interesting information to share.
Tomorrow I have to go for a gall bladder scan; have been having some stomach distress the past few months and mentioned this to my PCP, so he wants to look at that. He thinks it's probably my IBS, but just to be on the safe side ... Plus, the lab screwed up my B-1 test, so I have to have more blood drawn ... sigh ... luckily, it's in the same place, so I won't waste gas.
Well, I'm hungry and the Waikiki meatballs, day 3, are calling me. I think this will be the last day ... then they go in the freezer. Hope everyone has a good day. Enjoy the recipe!
