What's the deal with Watermelon??
Summer is here and the watermelon is wonderful. I have been craving it. I can not believe how much of it I can eat. I am thinking because it probably chews down like water it doesn't take up much room. My pouch is different than RNY or Lapband. There are a few foods that I can eat alot of like popcorn and lettuce and now watermelon. I wondered if it was the same for others. At least these things aren't too fattening although I suspect if you eat too much of anything it's not good. Anyway just wondering.
I found out the hard way that not all watermelon is created equal. I can eat seedless watermelon with my lap band, but not if it has those little white seeds in it. They expand to about three times their original size in your stomach, much too large to fit through the band. You all can pretty much figure out how I know that.
Watermelon is good that's for sure, but it does have quite a bit of natural sugar in it. If you can get by eating it, then I say go for it. I can eat a pretty big bowl of popcorn and I told the Doc that, and he said it was ok cause is goes down to practically northing....just don't make it a daily plan.....LOL!

Done! Your Ticker:
I have a great way to make popcorn. It has hardly any calories and is really good. You put about 4 tablespoons give or take into a brown paper lunch bag and tape it shut. Microwave for about 3 min 45 sec ( microwaves may vary) layer in bowl with buttery spray and salt ( I use Albertsons spray) I also use fine sea salt because it is better for you and you don't have to use as much. Be generous with the spray, It has like 0 calories. I like white hulas popcorn, its better. Anyway thats my tip for the day.
I love watermelon, that's for sure. Since I have a lap band I don't know how it reacts with your pouch. I do remember way back in the stone ages when I was pregnant with one of my girls I was on a watermelon kick and blew up like a balloon from eating so much watermelon. Watermelon is like 90% water and I retained every ounce of it. I've been eating a lot of cantaloupe lately and haven't had any trouble with it.
